You can't eat it off the spoon. It is flour. I did try it off the spoon to just taste it but it is dry flour. So far I have added it to shakes and yogurt. I am sure there are many possibilities. I just have not tried it in anything else yet.

Basically could you not use this the same way you use Almond Flour? Sounds devine, I like the thoughts of making Brownies w/it.

I've been using various peanut flours for a bit. Some thoughts:
1. 2 tbsp of peanut flour generally only reconstitutes as 1 tbsp peanut butter, so if you are calorie counting, you generally need to account for double the stated dry label calories if using as peanut butter. Generally, 1 tbsp of PB made from the flour = 54 calories. 2. This is not generally able to be the main ingredient in a bake mix -- too little fat, no gluten. When added to another bake mix, the flavor seems to dissipate, so I've never gotten a peanut-flavored baked good by adding it to another low carb mix. It is still useful to add to a mix if you want to add a low calorie, non-carby bulking element, though, and may be the perfect thing to add to an almond mix if you want to reduce the calories somewhat. 3. Makes great peanut sauce, is a great addition to ricotta cheese, yogurt, and protein shakes. Mix with some whipped cream and sweetener and make a peanut butter frosting. Mix with cream cheese and sweetener and make faux pb cheese cake or a cream cheese frosting. HTH, -Retroworx |

BabyDollSea:
I purchased more than a year ago from Byrd Mill before they had all these options, so my package doesn't specify which kind. Based on the nutrition stats, I'd say that what I have here is the 28%. And it must be a dark roast because it frankly smells and tastes like coffee to me, and I'm not a coffee fan. I prefer the PB2 from Bell Plantation which is more of a standard peanut butter taste and aroma. They sometimes have delayed shipping issues, though. There is also a Peanut Butter Powder available from Provident Pantry (do a Google search) which I haven't yet tried. HTH, -Retro |

I love the Plantation Bell PB2 but it has some sugar raising the carb level, I also have tried the Emergency Essential PNB flour, also about 1 carb per TBSP, can anyone tell me the difference in the Byrd Mills to PB2 and EE?

I bought some of this and was wondering if y'all could post some ideas or recipes for me. I have no idea what to do with this stuff. I love PB so I thought this would satisfy that craving once in a while. Is the carb count 7 grams per 1/4 cup? It is printed very lightly on one bag but not on the other. I bought one of each of the 12% (light & dark).

I made brownie pie w/ the 12%, our family is gluten free so this was great!
1 stick butter, softened 1/2 c. peanut flour 1 c. sugar (I used 1/3 c. xylitol, 1 dropperful stevia, and 1/3 c. natural turbinado) 4 TB cocoa powder 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs Beat all ingredients 4 minutes, pour into buttered pie pan and bake @325 for 25 minutes Last edited by ljh150 : 04-11-2008 at 01:48 PM. |

Janette - was the brownie pie yummy? I have been fooling around with a recipe for brownies that calls for almond flour or almond flour and carbquik and so far I am not that crazy about it, planning on more tweaking, etc ...
I guess my questions: 1. is it moist enough? 2. Is it chocolatey enough 3. Can you taste the peanut buuter (yum!) Thanks!!!! I think I might be ready to order if I can use it in baked goods ![]() |

I just got my order of the 12% light roast and added 2 T to my yogurt/cottage cheese mixture and it was fabulous! Can't wait to try other recipes with it.

I use peanut butter powder from Emergency Essentials and it's fabulous too as an alternative to regular peanut butter. My 72 serving size of PB powder was about $16.00.
I'll have to do some comparison shopping at Byrd Mill as well.... ![]() I mix about 2 Tbl of my peanut butter powder (70 calories...4 grm fat) in my 1 cup of yogurt and add some sweetner and 2 Tbl. of some type of lc chocolate chip....now that's a breakfast! |

Peanut Flour & LC Milk
See thread on LC Milk:
Homemade Low Carb Milk I used Peanut Flour and LC Milk to make a yummy shake. Tastes almost like soft serve ice cream:
Blend everything, but ice, well Then add ice and blend well again. This is so good I couldn't believe it. Thanks to all for the ideas and recipes
