Kevin, where do you buy your smoked cheddar? (neither my Harris Teeter nor my Trader Joe's carries it)...was going to ask you if smoked cheddar reasonably priced can be found but that's probably a stupid question.

The question is if anything is reasonably priced these days. But to answer your question, I bought this at the local grocer. It was with the specialty cheeses near the deli. Most grocers around here carry it this time of year. It was around $6 for 8oz. Bottom line though, you could make this with any kind of your favorite cheeses. |

Tillamook makes a very nice smoked cheddar cheese. Kroger has it near the deli. It was $4.79 for 8 ounces the last time I bought some but it could be double that price now the way prices have been going up like crazy lately. Even eggs aren't cheap food anymore.

I did something like this a month or so ago. I was tired of plain chicken breast so i used what I had in the fridge and here is my version
I butterflied my chicken breast I took a piece of cut up sting cheese and put it in the middle with a big bunch of chooped cilantro closed it up and wrapped with regular bacon, tucking the ends in. Fried it in a skillet. The cheese melts and the cilatro tasted really good. |
