I know I've seen a few demos with the new container, I would really like to get a new one of those! The lid seems so much easier to put on and take off than the older models (5years now)/

Yep, I bought the 32 oz. container at a Costco Road Show a couple years ago. I love it and use it MUCH more than the 64 oz. container it came with.

For anyone looking to buy a Vitamix, I just got my email from the q with the Vitamix on this coming Sunday's show. That would be August 26. It is the today's special value!! It is the one that fits under the cabinets and it is on 5 equal monthly payments of about $76 and no shipping or handling!!!! So watch the qvc on Sunday and choose your color!!! They have great ideas on what to do with the machine in those demos too. So if you already own one, then you can still watch and be amazed!!!

Good for you dawnyama. I'm sure you will love it.
I have decided that the Vitamix is the best blender on the market. I have tried many others and while they all work decently, the Vitamix outlives them all!! |

I finally caved a few weeks ago and bought one from QVC. I use it mostly for shakes. Will watch demos tomorrow for more ideas.
Does anyone know why when I make a shake with ice, it doesn't incorporate evenly? I don't know how to explain it but there is still liquid and crushed ice. |

Nelle Belle, when I make my shakes, I start it on Variable Slow, gradually increasing the speed. When it is fairly well incoroporated, in increase the speed. Then I go to High Regular. Mine is an old Vitamix. Do you have the same controls?

I do pretty much what Soobee does as far as the speeds go. I also blend all the liquid and other stuff together first, THEN add the ice, blend well, then I add 1/2 tsp. or so glucomannan powder to it and blend a little more - that holds the ice in suspension so you don't get a separation.

I think my problem, after watching the qvc demo, is using too much ice.

I wish I had the cinnamon one. I have the cinnamon Kitchenaide and it would so go with that. My original one was blue and I loved the color. But had to settle on the black when I had to return it. The only one they had in stock was black and I didn't want to wait or just not have one.

If you blend at a lower speed you won't get as much air incorporated.

QVC sucked me in this time too. I had one years ago, but forgot everything. So how do us low carbers make lc ice cream in one? DH and I have become pre diabetic and would love to make our own ice cream, but so far I see lots of fruit, how about davincis syrups etc any recipes around using those? Have not read all the the thread yet but will. Is there a VM recipe thread somewhere? Thanks Dee.

Wow, have read all 15 pages and copied a few nice ice cream recipes. Made smoothies today, but too much ice and were globbey and runny. Well have 30 days to put it through it's paces and see if the new ones are a keeper.

Maybe I should go through all the pages as well. I am still trying to justify purchasing one. I know Christmas is coming up and know they will be out in the stores, like Whole Foods and Costco.

Costco already had them, for $374.99, when I was in there the other day! That's a good price.

I just made the best ice cream with my Vitamix. I blended a bag of frozen blackberries with a cup of chilled heavy cream, 2 oz cream cheese, and 2 tablespoons of Truvia. It is heavenly.
