Yesterday's delicious snack....
Hi,
I just wanted to share with everyone the snack I had yesterday that was so very, very, very good and which I thorougly enjoyed. I made some YoCheese from Erivan brand yogurt, which is unflavored whole milk yogurt. A full 8-ounce container of plain, Erivan brand, unflavored whole milk yogurt contains only 11 grams of carbohydrate and 2 ounces of protein. I put 2 tablespoons of the YoCheese in a bowl added a splash of DaVinci's SF Vanilla syrup and 6 frozen blueberries (thawed) and stirred. It was very tasty and refreshing. Note: The Erivan yogurt does not seem to make as much YoCheese as a regular container of yogurt. An 8-ounce container seems to have made around 3-ounces or so of YoCheese. I just don't care for yogurt as it's packaged but I do enjoy the YoCheese. I know that I'm losing out on a lot of the live culture benefits when I strain out the whey but at least I'm eating it instead of letting it go to waste. |

I'm curious, does draining yogurt help take away that yogurty taste? I haven't tried yocheese because I hate yogurt so bad!

Yum. I have never made yocheese either , but I used to put Raspberry DaVinci's in my plain full fat Dannon yogurt.

I don't strain my yogurt, but I do buy Trader Joe's Greek or Mediterranean style yogurt, which I gather is pretty much the same thing. It still tastes like yogurt, but less tart. Yummy stuff.

Tastes much better after I drain the whey
Starwing,
I think that draining the whey makes yogurt taste so much better. As someone else mentioned YoCheese is not nearly as tangy and tart as yogurt tends to be. Cynthia |

Thanks, I might get up the nerve to try it! I know how health yogurt can be but I have never liked the taste of it!

Caution for those trying to avoid sugar/flour/cornstarch: Many of the instant pudding mixes have either modified food starch or cornstarch in them. Please check the ingrediants carefully.
Someone on another board mentioned that and I checked my Jello Sugar-free, Fat-free Instant Pudding box and low and behold it does say "modified food starch" as the first ingrediant. |
