Anyone else have problems with flavor extracts? >>>
Maybe it's just me, but I have a real problem with the commercial flavor extracts I get at the supermarket (Mc Cormick et al).
I'm guessing it's the alcohol in them? They taste raw and harsh to me, not sure exactly how to explain it. Could it be because I don't ingest alcohol otherwise? Anyone know of any good flavor extracts? Are there any brands that are alcohol-free?I've tried a few from Nature's Flavors, but am still analyzing their potency and flavor value. I'm eager to make my own SF syrups, but this problem prevents me from producing the quality I want Thanks in advance for your help. |

Have you tried Lorann flavorings? They have 87 different flavors and their description sounds just like what you are looking for... ;-)
Lorann flavoring oils are generally 3-4 times stronger than extracts since extracts are diluted by significant amounts of alcohol and/or water. These professional flavorings add nothing but great taste and aroma and can be used for a variety of flavoring applications - including hard candy, frostings, fudges, cookies, chocolates and more. |

LorAnn Oils
There is a cake decorating shop in my area that carries the LorAnn oils. I have used these for years and they do impart an intense and "true" flavor in both hot and cold recipes. They make just about any flavor you can think of and are hands down superior to the supermarket extracts. They make eyedropper caps (sold separately) because they are very concentrated and you use drops instead of tsp, etc. Most places that sell candymaking supplies will probably carry them. Try 'em...you'll like them!
