Just bought a George Forman Grille...Recipes?
I just bought the one with the removable grills. What a difference from the old one I used to use years ago. This week I cooked chicken breasts (oddly enought it didn't really make any grill marks) and scallops. Is there anything that you make on it that turns out great? I'm thinking of doing salmon....my new favorite food? Do you think I could get it charred on this thing?

I just posted a salmon recipe under the thread calling for help on salmon.
The trick with the George, and especially with the one with the removable plates, is to preheat it at least 6 minutes before putting anything in it, or else it tends to steam stuff. I don't think it gets as hot as the old non-removable one did but it will work fine if allowed to get plenty hot before placing food in there! Try veggies too - portabello mushrooms, eggplant slices, bell peppers quartered and flattened a bit - very yummy. Brush them with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with a little garlic salt first.

I know exactly what you mean about not getting as hot as the old forman grills. This new one made our chicken breasts but barely left any grill marks. The chicken was moist as can be, but as you said, almost steamed!!!! I hope that making it really hot will do the trick. You must be a great cook! you always have great ideas and seem to have figured it all out!

Aw, shucks, thanks! I don't know about being a great cook but I've been at it plenty of years! Practice practice practice.... Thankfully these days MORE things turn out well than not!
If you didn't already do this, try rubbing a little olive oil on the breasts first - it helps get those grill marks we all love. |
