Eat Well Be Well Chocolate Chips
I see these are sweetened with Splenda (which I thought usually doesn't go well with chocolate), but anyway.....do these chips have an artificial sweetener taste/aftertaste?
Thanks, Ro |

I've got the same question, but for a different reason. I compared the Eat Well Be Well chip ingredients versus the old Minicarb and found a major discrepancy (bold mine):
Minicarb Chips Ingredients: Chocolate Liquor, Polydextrose (fiber), Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Powder, Lecithin (an emulsifier), Sodium Bicarbonate, Sucralose, Vanilla Eat Well Be Well Chips Ingredients: Chocolate liquor, polydextrose (soluble fiber), cocoa butter, cocoa powder, soy lecithin (an emulsifier), sodium bicarbonate, vanilla, sweeteners ( acesulfame potassium, sucralose). I like the idea of multiple sweeteners with chocolate, but I'm NOT happy that the ace k appears before the sucralose. These could have a strong ace k aftertaste. Has anyone detected an aftertaste with these? Rosie, splenda does have issues with chocolate, but polyd and splenda have a pretty good synergy with each other and chocolate chips are naturally on the slightly bitter side. That's why the minicarb chips 'worked.' As far as the reformulated Eat Well Be Well chips, the addition of ace k should remove any splenda/chocolate concerns, but if it's too much ace k, we could be looking at another problem. I have used them several times in recipes and never noticed an off taste. It has never been more than 1/4 cup at 1 time though.

They're GREAT in chocolate chip cookies. Eating a handful alone, tastes a little "off" to me. I never noticed that with the Low Carb Success brand.

No, not really, I just made a cheesecake and sprinkled about 3/4 cup in the batter and baked. I then poured a can of SF cherry pie filling on top. It's delish and only one piece left...
