Shiritaki Noodles - OH NO!!

I have serval bags of the tofu House Brand noodles that expire Aug 22, 2006 I thought they were good for 1 year and I have only had these for about 7 months (ordered on line).

Do I dare use them past expiration? If so how long?

Thanks for any advise, Beth

I've eaten shiritaki noodles that were a couple of months past the expiration date. As long as they smell like they're supposed to, they'll be fine.

Since I have never had them before, I am curious as to what they are supposed to smell like.

If they're not refrigerated, go ahead and toss them in and they should be good another 2-3 weeks easy

Kevin: some brands have a slightly 'fishy' smell. But it should be very, very mild.

Thank you, I will be eating them every day until gone.

I have had them in the frig since I got them. I don't think they smell that bad, just not a pleasing smell for food. I love them with asian peanut suace. Yeterday I had speg. and meatballs with them.

Kevin, they're packed in seaweed, so they've got an... oceanic note Once you boil them for a bit, there's no trace of it whatsoever.

They're not refering to 'yams' like we think of them. It's a totally different plant But yes- shiritake is made from "yam" or "yam flour"

Oh okay - thanks. We call sweet potatoes 'yams' - I remember that now. Still, I was just making sure they weren't soy.

Some have soy or tofu added, but the list it in the ingredients, so just read the label and you should be fine
