freezer burned chicken

I got a back of chicken breasts out of the freezer the other day and discovered the bag had been open and all the chicken got freezer burned. Will the freezer burn taste cook out of the chicken?? I'd hate to throw away a whole bag of chicken breasts..........

my breasts always have a bit on em! that sounds obscene huh? but i get em from sam's and it seems like they have it all the time. so i just trim it off and cook em. doesn't taste bad but it's not very bad fb. i'd think it would be worth a try to cut it off and cook it. i just shallow trim it to expose good meat underneath.

i'd probably just dump them if the whole bag was freezer burned.

I don't think that taste will cook out. If you can cut past it as pooticus suggested, that might work--it probably depends on how badly freezer burnt it is. I go by the smell--if it smells bad I don't cook it and I hate to throw out food as much as anyone. I don't want to waste my time cooking something that probably won't taste good.

I would use them to make chicken stock at least (before I just tossed 'm). I've done this many, many times. I don't use any of the chicken that flavors my stock to eat - when my stock has simmered all day, everything in it gets tossed out. I'm pretty sure my recipe for chicken (and beef) stock is on my little recipe site. *Ü*
