polydextrose question

ok can someone please explain to me what polydextrose is? i thought it was a fiber but i ate a couple atkins breakfast bars with it today and i felt super energetic like i had eaten sugar. is polyd absorbed or no?

poly dosent raise my bs. its fiber. it mimics the texture of sugar.its an interesting product. it makes baked things taste more real.nonevil
