I use it in taco salads, pretty much anything that calls for ground beef. I've even made burgers with it, though without some seasonings, it can be a little bland. I get Jennie O brand (orange/brown wrapper) in the freezer section of Kroger for .99lb. Much cheaper than ground beef!

I only buy turkey burger when it's buy one get one free. That's about every other week around here. That comes out to about $1.50 per package (~1lb). Here's the link to my favorite recipe. I lived on it during induction. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/recipe...cat/all/page/1

I found this recipe last week (I think it is a Lean For Life recipe) and have already made it twice. It is REALLY good I buy whole turkey breast and cut it in chunks, then throw them in the food processor with the veggies and seasonings. I think it's much safer than buying already ground (raw turkey is a real breeding ground for dangerous bacteria) and it's also much cheaper, as breasts are often on sale big time.

Turkey Burgers with Salsa

Pico de Gallo
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/3 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 serrano chile pepper, seeded and minced
1 lime, juiced
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
salt and pepper to taste

Turkey Burgers
1 pound ground turkey
1 egg
1/2 onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a bowl, mix together the tomatoes, the 1/3 cup chopped onion, 2 of the 4 cloves of minced garlic, serrano chile pepper, lime juice, and cilantro. Stir in salt and pepper to taste, and set aside.
Place the ground turkey in a bowl. Add the egg, the 1/2 onion, minced, remaining 2 cloves minced garlic, coriander, celery salt, chili powder, cumin, and chopped parsley. Using your hands, work the mixture until all ingredients are evenly blended. Form mixture into 4 patties.
Heat a large, non-stick skillet for medium-high heat. Cook the turkey burgers for 5 minutes per side, or until no longer pink in the center and juices run clear. Reduce the heat as necessary during cooking. Serve with Pico de Gallo salsa (I mixed 1 T. LF sour cream with the salsa and spooned it over like a sauce. It was very yummy!)

Spicy Turkey Buger w/ Fried Cabbage

Wow some great recipies..... like most have said I use it in place of most recipies that use ground beef. I also just make ground turkey meat with onions and peppers and keep that on hand as a quick snack or something..... just put it in the microwave to re-heat and go....

I just want to note that you need to be sure to check the label on ground turkey. If you're trying to eat lower fat by eating ground turkey, be careful. Some of it has as much fat as ground beef or ground pork! I prefer to use ground turkey breast. I also like Italian turkey sausage. It's a little higher in fat, but lower than regular turkey sausage. I make all kinds of stuff with that.

Yeah I noticed that too! I used to think I could eat a little more of it compared to the ground beef I ate, but now I eat it in less quantities, I'm not "watching" my fat so much but I do occasionally eat regualr turkey meat and the "lean" turkey meat, depending on what I am cooking.

Spicy!
Brown 1lb ground turkey with 1/4 cup diced onion, 1 fresh jalapeno(sliced or diced), add 1 can diced tomatoes in their own juice.
Simmer a few minutes and add salt and pepper to taste.
Makes 4 servings at about 5g carbs per serving

I've used it in meatloaf, meatballs, and in chili. I also "mix" it sometimes with ground beef. ...wow, those prices are impressive...I've paid up to 3.99 a lb. around here (and not for the ground turkey breast either)!

Makes killer meatloaf, meatballs, etc... like others have said, I only use the
Ground Turkey Breast, the other kinda icks me out, I like just frying it up in a pan and eating it w/a bit of pepper and some low carb Alfredo sauce on it. The stuff is great!!

How do you find/identify the ground turkey breast? Does it come in a roll like the regular ground turkey? I see pilgrim's pride around here.

Usually the ground breast is in tray packs here, not rolls. I usually get The Turkey Store or Honeysuckly White brand.

Another thing: ground turkey breast has about 120 calories per 4oz compared to over 200 cals for 4oz of the other mixture. So look at the labeling
