There used to be a Mac version of MasterCook - don't know if you could still find it, or if it would work under OSX...
You might look at A Cook's Book from 3 Cats and a Mac, though... there's a free trial, and it imports MasterCook (and other) recipe formats. Free trials are always good! |

mealformation, A Cook's Book, CookWare Deluxe, Diet Sleuth
Funny you should post about this. I've recently been considering upgrading my cookbook software. I have mealformation as it was one of the first programs to move from OS9 to OSX but I'm not completely satisified with it. The program works great once it loads but it takes forever to load. Since I'm a notebook user, leaving my computer on with mealformation running is not an option.
The programs I have been considering upgrading to include: Connoisseur - www.thelittleappfactory.com CookWare Deluxe 2.1 - www.digitalfriedchicken.com Diet Sleuth - www.blackcatsystems.com A Cook's Book - www.3caam.com (Dizneegirl, have you tried A Cook's Book? I'm horrible about getting free trials, falling in love with the program to later decide that I really don't like the software.) MelaGal best of luck on your search & keep us posted. |

I use Diet Sleuth and it's not bad, once you get past its unMaclike idiosyncrasies. (Command-A = add to favorites?!) Kind of clunky but it gets the job done.
It's more ******-like diet software than real recipe software, though. I guess you could put the full recipe in the comments field, now that I think of it, but it's still not the type of program that will let you search for recipes by ingredients or print out shopping lists or any of that stuff. |

Now we are planning to get the Mac mini as soon as it comes with 10.4. Ooh, and next weekend we are going to Chicago and plan to hit the Apple store...I am SO stoked! ![]() k |

Thanks for posting the links. I used to use Diet Sleuth ages ago but stopped. Once I switched to OSX I stopped looking for software.
Also a Mac geek - since before the hammer throw. I used a pre-Mac Lisa back in 1983! I'm on my 7th model (G5) at home and 4th at work. Caroline |

I remember we had an Apple ][ back in the day, but the first Mac was a big change from that. Compared to all the cruddy DOS machines it was a real eye-opener. Ah, good times.
I can't even remember all the Macs I've loved before...there are at least six in this house right now, and we've gotten rid of several. But I still have the key from the Quadra 950 on my keyring! ObTopic, a little: anybody know of good recipe software for OS9? I have an iBook that has to stay at that system for work reasons, but it's a perfect kitchen machine and it'd be great to have recipes on it as something other than text files.

I've been purging through my old software so I'll see if I have anything.
Binki - aren't you on AATW, too? I'm certain I've seen your name there. I'm "cwgurl" and I just started to post there. If so, greetings! |

Haven't tried it... I only turn on my Mac when absolutely necessary.
I'm a PC MasterCook girl, myself. |
