Another Sweetener ?? for Scott

Okay, Here's what I have, at what ratio would you mix them together to replace say. . . 1 cup of sugar?

Powdered Splenda
Eytherital (sp)
Sweet One
Liquid Stevia Plus - (used this once and it was very bitter so I assume I need to mix it w/others).

Thanks for your help Scott or anyone w/more knowledge on this stuff than me!!

Hi MORE2GO!

Congrats on finding Sweet One. I think you'll find it really makes a difference.

My first question is this - your liquid steviaplus, is that the steviaclear stuff or the dark liquid concentrate?

Maybe others will disagree with me, but my experience has shown that a bad stevia, even in very small quantities can really trash a baked good. Right off the bat, try this experiment: Pour yourself a 1/4 C. of water. Add a drop of liquid stevia to it. Taste it. How is it? Bitter? Palatable? Not palatable? If it's really bad, dilute it with another 1/4 C. water and taste it again. If it is okay, repeat procedure/assessment with another drop and then again. Then come back here and let me know how much you could add before it started getting really gross. Until I get your final assessment on the palatability of your stevia, here's my recommendation for a non stevia mix:

1 Cup post-synergy sweetening equivalent:
..1/2 C. Granular Splenda
..1/4 C. Erythritol
..1 packet (2 t. equivalent) sweet One

I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised at the quality of sweetness you get from this. Now all you need is some liquid splenda to bring down the carb count and something for bulk.

Yes, Pam, it will. Just use 1/2 C. equivalent of liquid splenda

Scott-
The only Sweet One I've been able to find are the ones in the packets.

Is this what you are using?

BettyR, yes, that's what I've been using. If a recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, I may use as much as a packet (2 t. equivalent), although because of the synergistic boost involved, I usually stick to less than a packet, which is when my handy dandy dash, pinch and smidgeon measuring spoons come in handy

I found some DiabetiSweet at my local Super Walmart in the diabetic section of the store. - A tip from Char; it also has Ace K in it. I bought several boxes/bags.

I really like it, have you ever tried it?

Betty, I've been meaning to get some. The closest superwalmart is about 2 hours away, so I don't get there very often. For those okay with sugar alcohols, diabetisweet (isomalt/ace K) is an excellent way of adding ace k to a sweetening mix. Are you combining it with splenda?

Yes, I was using it in place of the E, combining it with Splenda and SteviaPlus. I wanted to see how I would like it. I still have some E left and will use it up, but when it's all gone I'll use the DiabetiSweet in it's place. I really like it and it's a lot less expensive than the E and I like that I can get it locally.

The one pound boxes were $6.83 at Walmart. It's packaged in a resealable bag inside the box and the box has a $1.00 off coupon on it. There was also a small cookbook inside the box that had several more $1.00 off coupons in it.

Their website says that you can get it at Kmart, Target, Eckerds CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, Food Lion, The Medicine Shoppe, Stop & Shop and Winn Dixie. Hopefully there will be one of those closer to your house and you can try it out.

Betty, thanks for listing those stores. I've keep an eye out for it.

By subbing diabetisweet for E, you've gone from 3 sweetener synergy to 4 sweetener synergy. That's a lot of synergy you've got there. Congratulations

The combo is quite lovely. My very picky non low carb family thinks I'm a genius. Thanks to the PolyD and these sweeteners I make some of the best ice cream they've ever had and it stays scoop-able even after several days in the freezer.

Scott, here are the results from my little expierament with my liquid Stevia

What I have is: Sweet Leaf SteviaClear, Liquid Stevia

I got to 9-10 drops in the 1/4 of water before it started to get bitter and gross!

Hope this helps, and thanks for all of your great advise.

MORE2GO, that's great you were able to take the time to do that! Now we can add stevia to the mix without worrying that it's going to mess things up.

Here's how stevia would fit in:

1 Cup post-synergy sweetening equivalent:
..1/2 C. Granular Splenda
..1 T Erythritol
..1 packet (2 t. equivalent) sweet One
..3 drops steviaclear liquid stevia

I'm still gettting the hang of figuring out the synergy from 4 sweeteners, but I think this should be very close.
