Dreamfields Process???
Hi,
I just bought some Dreamfields Penne from Netrition. Oh, my God. It's so good, it makes me wonder if it's too good to be true!! Can someone tell me what their "process" is that makes the carbs in the recipe "controlled" ... or "undigestible"? I know they have a patent on it and possibly don't want to spill the beans, so to speak. But, like I said, it's almost too good to believe. Also, some stories from people who have used it and whether it effected their weightloss and/or ketosis would be appreciated.

I have to agree it tastes great. I didn't get any dizziness after eating it the way I do regular pasta, potatoes, or sugar and no rebound hunger either. I just used about half the amount I did when I ate regular pasta and layered it like lasanga with cheese and sauce.

It's great, isn't it?
I think their process - some kind of coating - binds the carbs in the pasta so that they work like fiber and don't digest in the stomach. Dreamfields has never caused a gain for me - even a temporary water gain. Now sugar alcohols, that's a different story! |

I love it! It hasn't affected weight gain for me, but then, I use it a a treat! somehow I just don't think I should have it all the time! I heard that once their patent is approved they can talk more about the actual process.

I love it too! I've eaten it very occasionally, but I've not had any cravings or weight gain associated with it.

Thanks so much for your responses.
Being half Italian this has always been an issue for me with Low Carb. This is going to make LCing that much easier. After some reading, I'm aware, that it's important to pay attention to portion sizes. But, just that there is a REAL option out there is so wonderful. BTW, DH said he could tell it was working because it affected him like most fiber does.... ![]() |

Be careful.... I just had 2 oz tonight and my meter reading shot up from 133 to 155 after the first 2 hours then to 174 after 6 hours [the fiber coating makes it slower matabolizing but it still got up there]. we're discussing it on the "THE BANTA DIET...... 1500 tested" thread in the MAIN LOWCARB LOBBY boards, if you want to go over there to the last page..... page 8, scroll down. I had NOTHING else to eat all day, and my KETO DIASTIX were NEGATIVE for sugar and showed I was still IN ketosis but with a 174 blood sugar glucometer reading! The ketostix are not accurate readings of what it's doing to blood sugar. Everybody is different but should test their blood before eating it regularly or often or at all. Don't be alarmed..... just be aware.

Tell me more about the tofu shiritake. I like spaghetti squash too, but I missed real pasta. The "soy" stuff was not platable for me at ALL. |

I think Shirtake noodles are great for Asian type soups, but I don't find them a good substitute for more traditional pasta dishes such as spaghetti with meat sauce. Thanks heavens for Dreamfields. Even if it is reserved for a special treat, it makes this WOE much more appealing to me. It certainly does not bring on the cravings, or bloat, or "stuffiness" of regular pasta.

tofu shiritake is different -- way more like pasta to me! not up to italian standards though since its not as chewy. This is what they look like: http://www.house-foods.com/our_produ...irataki_2.html http://www.house-foods.com/our_produ...irataki_1.html |

Lisa G, my DH is Italian, too.
We can't tell the difference. I've heard that they (Dreamfield) is going to try the same process for rice, soon. I'm really glad to have dreamfields! From what the box states, you measure the carbs from dry pasta, not after you cook it. I think the whole box was 40 carbs. Anyway, we love it, with our "home made italian spaghetti sauce". ![]() |
