Carbquick Monte Cristo........variations???
I made the Monte Cristo last night............VERY good, easy too!
I got to wondering about other possible "sandwich" type variations......what about roast beef and havarti with a horseradish spread or a turkey and mozzarella with a pesto spread!?!?!? What do you think???? Has anyone tried any variations of this!?? |

I am thinking some Sweet Italian sausage, fried green, red and yellow peppers and of course some onions.
Think this would work? |

I used "steak-um" beef and sauteed green peppers, mushroom, and onion, and mozzerella {sp??} . Ofcourse you need to quickly pan fry your steak-um meat and drain well your veggies. I recommend using your meat with all other filling between it so they don't bake into the bread. I am going to try browned hot sausage, sauted mushroom, onion, green pepper, and cheese and put a small amount of pizza sauce in there also.

Turkey, Havarti and some kind of sub for cranberry sauce. Maybe something from Steel's? Yum, I have some Sour Cherry Jam. Bet that would be good.

just made the orig. montecristo yesterday and it was pretty good. probably would be considered 'great' if i thought about how i am not really a fan of coldcuts to begin with!!!
anyway, i love the ideas you guys are coming up with....that mufaletta (sp?) will probably be my next one, although i've never had a 'normal' mufaletta before.also, what's in a poorboy? i know it's from louisiana, from my good ole days of being able to see emeril. thanks for the great suggestions!!! -letty |
