Almond meal?

Please tell me this is the same thing as almond flour. I bought some today in preparation for Easter, they didn't have anything that said almond flour.

I'm not sure if it is exactly the same as almond flour, but I used my home-ground almond meal in any recipe that calls for almond flour. The flour might be a little more finely ground.

The Almond meal is a little coarser, because they make it with unblanched almonds. The flour is made with blanched almonds. They both work pretty much the same.

Actually, the almond flour that is made in the mills, such as King Arthur's, is partly de-fatted, which makes for a lighter product. However, I think that almond meal is what most people use - it's definitely what I use - partly because of the cost factor, partly because of the availability factor. I think most of the recipes you'll find here are based on Almond Meal or Ground Almonds, which you can either purchase already ground, or you can grind them yourself a few at a time, in a coffee grinder.
