Golden Flaxmeal vs. Brown Flaxmeal

Do these taste any different? I used the golden in Spongebob's recipe to make banana walnut bread and the color was much better than the brown for that recipe. I haven't used either of these enough to know if one is better than the other for different recipes or if they have a different taste at all. I've made Kim's muffins with the brown and Spongebob's with banana flavoring and used the golden. I liked the muffins better, but I'm not sure if that's because of the cinnamon vs. banana flavoring or the flaxmeal.

Personally, I prefer the taste of the Golden..as it has a lighter
flavor..but, that's just me.

Me too. The brown has a bitter taste when ground and used in muffins etc. Which seems to get more bitter with each day, even when frozen.

The golden ones here, too. They have a nuttier flavor it seems

Thanks everyone.... I know the color is preferable for recipes that don't have any other "browns."

If you believe the guy that owns my local vitamin/health shop, the brown flaxseed is for industrial use... he only stocks the golden, and says it's better for you.

I use both.
