Thanks again, Candice. It's great to read and see your progress. When I need inspiration I know where I can go and get some! After reading your thread, I bought both DVDs, Kettlebells, Kettleguards, new sport bras and exercise gloves (I read somewhere that if your hands sweat they are good for helping you grip the kettlebell.) I haven't begun to exercise yet, but I'm poised and ready! Getting started is the hardest part.

I have read up on Kettlebell routines and I hear so much negative stuff on Jillian's Shred-It with Weights. I ask people why they don't like it and no one replies! Don't know if it's a conspiracy or what, but I'd really like to know what the problem is. I watched both videos all the way through and I think they look very effective.

How often did you do the workouts when you first started out? Sounds like you do them daily (or almost) nowadays. What should I be aiming for in the beginning? I am a couch potato. Back in my 20's I was very fit and in the National Guard, so I know my muscles are in there somewhere!

I did do everyday.. I did for 30 days straight.. took 2 weeks off.. did for 24 days straight.. took 2 weeks off.. did for another 30 days straight..took 2 days off.. did another 2 weeks then took a full week and half off.. and started back up 2 days ago.. this time doing her yoga melt down.
For me the Shred it with weights is just different. Not bad.. just different and kinda a challenge. L1 was not hard enough, to be honets kinda easy.. and L2 is @ss kicking.. I was having issues with my back hurting during L2.. there were a few moves that just did not feel right and were putting me a bit in pain. I was doing as instructed.. just not her best dvd IMHO. I love love love 30 Day shred.. and I always go back to that one. She has a new Shred coming out march 1st.. can't wait! But till then I am giving the yoga meltdown a try. .. it more intense then normal yoga.. I totally feel it.. woke up this am and I hurt!!

Thanks, Candice. I'll have to see how I feel as I go along and determine what works for me. I doubt seriously that I'll be doing it every day. And if I took a week or two off, it would put the kibosh on the whole momentum I'd built up to that point. I will listen to my body.

I will take pics, as you have done. Maybe I'll be able to post my own thread after a while!

I was looking at my arms today.. and I have to say I am so happy with them!!
I did not have a great before picture.. had to crop a lot to get at least 1 before.. But you can still totally see the change!!
I really feel exercise it totally worth the effort you put into doing it..
for me at least not only did it TOTALLY change my body..but it is a major stress reliever for me. Helps improve my over all mood on a daily basis.

Wow! So much more definition and much smaller bat wings. I hate my arms. My abdomen and upper arms are the parts of my body that I am the most selfconscious about. You're giving me more ideas of how to take before exercise pics! Thanks so much.

Candice, you look FABULOUS. Just wondering - how tall are you? I ask because I know that at a size 12 I wouldn't look anything like you at a size 12. It's amazing how different we all are in body type and size!

I love your pictures! Awesome! Your so beautiful! You give me so much hope! I am 5'6" too! I know that if I am under 190 I won't look bad at all. But to be down to a size 2 would be amazing to me. I'm going to do it! I tell ya!

PS I have the shred videos! They arnt easy, that's for sure! But slowly you begin seeing your endurance go up! Julian really does know what she's talking about! Love it!

I haven't exercised in several years, and I'm scared to even start---But your progress is so inspiring, I HAVE to give it a go!

Congratulations on your success - you look fantastic! Also BP and wondering if you were on lithium? Plan to lose 25 lbs (via low carb) and worried that it will require close monitoring.

Wow!!! It just amaze me how it took u 11months to go down so much and ive been working out for 8months and only lost 20lbs. Although I did go from a size 11/12 in jeans to a size 7. Went from 38 waist to 35 waist. 38 bust to a 33 bust but still discouraged with my results. i bust my butt n the gym 5-6 days n the gym burning from 1000-1500 cal per session. like u i portion controlled, calorie counted now exercising n not gettn back what i put in. If u wouldnt mind telln me how to start that would be great. To me on this journey food has been the toughest for me. I dnt each much at all. i dnt drink water if i do mayne one cup, and i dnt eat lots of veggies only bcuz idk how to cook them to my taste. i only eat fish n chicken. Im a smoothi type of girl. Please help me. tell me what I should look for in my food choices. Im thinking to just calorie count. What is a good range to start with? i have a alethic build but I have some upper body im struggling to loose. please help

No I do not take litium.
sickntired, I had no advise. I am no expert on exercise and low carbing.. I actually think though you need to EAT MORE food in general + more carbs when exercising that much. You need to start eating veggies, if you don't like cooking then just frozen and microwave lol or even just lettuce, salads, I usually have like 4 cups of Romain lettuce a day. As far as how I eat, I eat low carb keeping fat #1, Protein #2 and carbs #3.. I don't really watch calories that much, I just try since I am not in maintenance to not over eat since my carbs are higher most day.. so more carbs means a little less calories.. kwim?

My first visit here and I congratulate you. I just started back on Atkins. I was ill-informed and told I don't want it as a lifestyle. Heck... good or bad dieting IS a person's lifestyle. Diet is what one eats!

I'm impressed so much with your arms. It's one of the hardest places to tone up.
