my truth about permanant weight loss.

Well let me start this post by saying I am not going to bore you with my 'story' because everyone's story is basically the same. People have gained weight from profuse personal tragedy....OR.. just as simple as a thing as being bored or being happy --or food just tastes good. GET my point. It is a natual thing to want to eat. You can have a difficult stressful life and gain weight and have a wonderful life and gain weight. This is not the problem. Weight issues will plague you whether you are rich or poor, happy or unhappy. I personally am so bored by hearing everyone's storys and excuses why they gained weight.............. YAWN.(disclaimer-medical conditions) not for you.
I GAINED all my weight being as happy as I have ever been in life. I am retired and had a home gym with all the time in the world to work out but didn't do it........... So lets let go of all the blame and excuses............I don't care. I have experienced extreme stress and extreme happiness and still have battled with my weight so lets let that whole issue go eh? It is so easy to point the finger at things that MADE YOU gain weight. The only person to blame is yourself.

I have lost about 50 pounds and have gone through the ups and downs of losing and 'the hardest' maintainance. It has been a difficult battle, because I make excuses all the time as to why I cant stick to the plan.

Sometimes this forum makes me angry because of the volitile personalities and I have to step away from it for a while. But I have learned some valuable information from it, so take what you can from it. It can be a good source of information and fellowship.

So anyway to my advice:
You really must think long term when you embark on wanting permanent change. If you know there are foods you don't think you can live without you need to do major research on these foods. What foods do you think will tempt you?? why??? Many of us are allergic and don't even know it...that is why we crave certain foods so much.

Just because you like it-----------doesn't mean you have to have it everyday. I love bread. Bread doesn't like me. If I eat it everyday I will be a mess. But telling myself I can't eat it EVER , sets up a pattern of resistance and deprivation. So I tell myself I can have it. I CHOOSE to have it maybe twice a month or so. And when I eat it I dont feel like I have commited the crime of the century..filled with guilt and remorse.....I enjoy it and go back to business. I used to think in extremely Black/white situations where I was good or bad never in between. That used to be my
downfall. I felt if I ate one offending item, the diet was over, I failed, might as well do it up and wait until Monday.
I basically eat low carb as much as possible. But I allow certain favorite foods in my life now and again without guilt or shame and have maintained my weight and feel very happy.

So learn about how foods make you feel; Pay attention. Learn how your body reacts to all foods. Try as many things as possible. Don't get locked into thinking you need to eat ABC because everyone else is doing it. You must ultimately find your own way and a way you can live with for life. Find exercise that you enjoy and can keep up.

Final note:
Many of us are extremely allergic to certain foods and chemicals. Eat as natural as possible. Check all food labels. I have found if it isn't made in nature it will cause some sort of problems down the line. Stick to the basics as much as possible.
Good luck all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE LIZA!!!!!!!

I too are a success story I feel the same as you and was almost assasinated with words for speaking the truth that one main idea or diet is not for everyone for me it is a way of life more than a diet and I have gotten results. This is the year of no more excuses I am not waisting my time on negativity and do not feel like a failure if I dont stick to the letter of the plan. But like you I know what foods work and which ones dont Continued success to you and all the best

Sorry if this rambling offended anyone. I meant to post this in my own WEIGHT LOSS JOURNAL, not in success stories. I am the type that needs a good kick in the pants sometimes and to remind myself of what I am doing and to not repeat unproductive past behaviors. So this dramatic read was intended more for my benefit and just writting down my thoughts to look at for future times of weakness.

My apologies. I wasn't trying to yell at anyone LOL!! Just me!

THANK YOU!! It's nice to know that others struggle.... when trying to stay on plan to lose the weight and afterwards, too. I have and continue to struggle to find a WOE that I can do, for life! I try to not fall back into old habits and feel defeated by the day to day stuff.

I appreciate your candor and I believe that your "ramblings" will hit the spot for a lot of people and even if you did not intend to post it here, I think it was a good thing! I don't generally look at the journels, but through the main threads, so was glad to have checked this out!
