Grateful for Low Carb Success

I wish I had an incredible weight loss story to relate. Well ,that will come. But so far Low Carb has done a more incredible thing for me. It has removed all cravings for alcohol!

I could not simpy get rid of these cravings before, even with AA and residential treatment.

So I began to research alcoholism intently. I did google searches on various words. Finally I began searching using words like "alcoholism" "low carb" etc

I also did searches using the words "caffeine" and "alcoholism"

What i found was that in some people who are sensitive to caffeine, it sets off an insulin spike so great that the result is intense carb or sugar cravings. The insulin has over-reacted and gobbled up blood sugar, creating hypoglycemia and in some, the shakes

nothing relieves this hypoglycemia (at least temporarily) better than alcohol
but "feeding" thiese cravings with wine/alcohol only makes them grow as still MORE inulin is released

this creates the vicious cycle we know as alcoholism

soooo

i did low carb religiously (induction)

i removed caffeine totally (not easy for me as i loved starbucks) but so worth it

ALL alcohol cravings gone

i am so grateful for this list

That is fantastic news!! Congratulations.

We have a history of diabetes and alcoholism in our families, and I think you are on to something. Those monsters walk hand in hand.
