Celebrating my 2 year Atkinsversary

Today is two years since starting Atkins. My goal was to lose 100 lbs and be size 14. I began at 263 and now weigh 186 so I am still short of my goal weight. However, I hit size 14 currently! I have lost 77 lbs, 13 inches from my hips, 8 from my waist, 8 from the top and 9 inches from each thigh.

My success secret? I stuck it out no matter what and I refused to ever cheat--not even just one little bite. Atkins says one little bite is often the kiss of death and I have seem so many folks prove him right. I decided to not go there--ever. Still, I have bounced and weighed more, then less, up, down but I stuck with it. The recipe room became my new home. I learned a new way of cooking and found it tasted BETTER than what I was eating before Atkins!

Aside from looking better I feel TERRIFIC! I am off of all meds now including blood pressure pills. I can bend over, have no problems cleaning my house and have tons of energy. I can also cross my legs again which I was unable to do for years.

I have had certain meds stall me, tackled a battle with sodium, battled with nitrates, etc but I stuck with it. I have resorted to extremes to get the weight moving again after months of not losing. I survived the Fat Fast and it did work in spite of meds I was on at the time. I am now losing on induction levels again so nothing else is necesary at present time.

Oh, and as of Jan. 1 this year I joined a 45 min a day exercise challenge for 45 days. I didn't think I could do it but I tried. Guess what? I was capable and am still exercising regularly...

Moral to the story? Stick with what you try and you will have GREAT SUCCESS! Give up and you will not. "I think I can"...

Congratulations on the size 14 goal! I have a pair on size 10 Levi's hanging on the back of my closet. I was wearing these jeans when I got the good news that I was pregnant with my 2nd child....that was 8 years ago. I just started the Atkins Program and I am going to loose it this time!

Thank you for the response, Alex! I was getting lonely here...

Good luck on your weight loss journey. I have found Atkins pretty easy to stick with. If I can help you at all, please let me know.

OK, lol, I can help you with that. I do my workout before breakfast. I find the treadmill boring but I do use one. Here is my routine: 15 min on the exercise bike, 15 min on the treadmill and 15 min of free exercise (anything you want--I dance or jog in place). By breaking it into 3 segments of just 15 min each it is a lot easier.

They all tell me that you should work out on an empty stomach and not eat for one hour after you are finished. This burns 3x more fat and calories and also forces your body to use stored fat as fuel.

So, roll out of bed, have a little coffee and just do the darn thing. Best of luck! BTW, if you need any good recipes or have any favorite no-no foods you would like a substitute for, let me know!

You have done a great job! I have to agree for me this is lifetime and so is the excercising.

Isnt it wonderful not to take the blood pressure pills anymore?

I love success stories.

SBelleConnie, yes, coming off of the meds is just about as good as shedding the pounds! I feel terrific! Thank you for the comment!

There really is light at the end of the tunnel! All it takes is time. I had nothing better to do... And I will continue this journey.

Thank you all! I am closer to goal with each passing day! Although I have had to switch plans up again (still lc, of course) but I WILL HIT GOAL!

Yesterday I was warned of the possibility of gaining weight back. After much thought on this subject here is my conclusion: Only if I were ill and had meds do it cause this girl is no CHEATER and never will be! There is NO WAY I would do it to myself and I believe I have a choice. So there, lol!

Additionally, I have worked long and hard to be this close to goal, have always had to lose each lb twice, ect. Not to mention exercise. I have worked my butt off literally.

What a truely mean comment that was!

I am getting so close to the 100 lb mark now! So, I have decided to take it all the way down--to 150 lbs. Doing Kimkins and the weight is coming off pretty easily now. I am 15 lbs lighter than the bathing suit pic!
