Three hours in!
Hi all,
I'm basically just testing out my signature. I have started today and am in three hours. I REALLY AM MOTIVATED this time!!! Have said this three times. This time I believe I will be successful because I believe that I have a wheat allergy and this seems like a good way to stay away from it. Has anyone else had this type of experience with food allergies or intoleraces? Anyway, glad to be back and wish all of us success! ![]() |

Hi Lash!
I have a wheat intolerance too! And I am really motivated to do this too! I have been bad lately and need to get on track. I feel that I will succeed this time as well. I know that with support we can both do it. qwertyui |

Hi Quert:
I've been waiting for someone to come along with the same problems I have with wheat. Have you found anything at all in the way of LC food that's good for us? I have tried gluten free bread -- ugh! I had my first rice cracker today since this is my first day off induction. How are you doing? Any tips? Thanks. |

Lash-
All you can do is stay away from it. You have to figure out if it is just wheat or is it gluten, which is found in almost all grain products, and in a lot of Atkins mixes etc. I like the rice crackers, but they are high in carbs. My tastes have changed a lot. Any baking etc, I have done with gluten free flours, my boyfriend will eat, but says they taste funny. They taste great to me! Basically anything with any kind of flour is not low carb. One product that I found was great is "Thickenthin not/Starch thickener which I bought from a Canadian low carb internet dealer. It is awesome. You can make low carb ketchup, thicken gravies, cream sauces, everything, and you cannot tase the difference at all, and there are no carbs. The low carb chocolate gives me really bad stomach pains and the runs, but doesn't affect my boyfriend that way. All I can say is that if you want to eat low carb - just stay way from any wheat or gluten product and you are off the the races. I mean, we have beat a lot of the temptation, because we have to stay away for health reasons. What are your symptoms when you eat wheat? |

Hi Querty:
What happened was that I was, for probably the last ten years, getting sicker and sicker. My stomach was constantly bloated and I was truly exhausted. The doctors tested me for everything except celiac disease/wheat intolerance. My mom just happened to read an article about it, thought it sounded like me and I started on the diet that day. Within days, I felt better and my stomach went down to a normal size. (I was buying maternity blouses.) I just could not go through any more tests and I thought I could find out first how I felt on the diet. Obviously, its working. I feel great and now I really need to lose weight. I have bought food from the gluten free pantry and I really like it, but arent the "bread" mixes really high in carbs?

Well, you had almost the same symtoms as me! Don't you feel so much better because you have the answer?! I did!
All of the bread mixes are really high in carbs and fat! El Peto makes a muffin mix and it calls for 1 cup of oil and 4 eggs. Really high in fat. They taste great - but how good are they for you? Congrats! I know you will reach you goal - eventually I will too. |

Hi Querty:
Yes, I do feel enormously better. I am angry, however, that after seeing all those specialists and doctors, noone suggested I be tested for this kind of a thing. But what's done is done. I'm still not sure about the soy allergy, however. So much of the lo-carb stuff is just filled with soy. Anyway, I hope you are doing well and I thank you so much for all your helpful responses. I'm sure we're going to make it to our goal. |
