What is the worst meal you ever made?

since starting this program?

I would have to say: Mock French Toast

OMG those were the grossest tasting things ever. I would eat an entire plate of liver before I ever eat those things ever again.

Did you have high expectations of something and then have it taste really bad?

I gotta agree with the Mock French Toast. I think I may not have ground up the pork rinds enough because all I could taste was pork. It was pretty nasty

LOL Of course the worst is the recipe in Dr. Atkins book of recipes for bread. That was GROSS!! The second worst was, I decided I could make Manicotti with turkey slices rolled around ricotta, parm, mozzarella, egg mixture. I tossed that after 2 bites.

Mock danish. I must have done something wrong because everyone else says they love them, but haven't bothered to try again. I'll eat nearly anything and I tossed it out.

I also made some flaxmeal muffins. They sunk rather than rising, and are pretty bland but I've got them in the freezer and eat one every once in awhile for the flaxseed benefit.

The New Diet Revolution Rolls were the worst! They were eggy and spongy and just horrible. I also made some vile "pancakes" once. I have since given up trying to replicate certain high-carb foods.

A couple years ago, I made this pizza recipe from a lc website. The crust was almost all eggs. I have a weird thing about things that taste "eggy" (and I'll eat eggs like for breakfast fried, scrambled, so on)
Well, it didn't taste good, (to me, my mom scarfed it down) Even as I was eating it, I had a bad feeling. It tasted like gross eggy thing w/ cheese, and pepperoni (which I also hate)
Anywho, I got this terrible stomach bug literally that day, and you can use your imagination about hating it on the way down, how it was on the way up.
Gross.
I still can't even tolerate the smell of "eggy" things. (quite odd, cause I will eat them other ways)
Now that I've grossed everyone out

I tried making some pancakes and omg they were horrible...I don't know what went wrong, the egg in it, the soy flour, everything tasted horrible...but I didn't give up and went from horrible to not bad to much better to delicious so it took me 3 trys and some ingridient adjustment.

I made some kind of cheesecake recipe and it was terrible. Threw it all out. What a waste of money. I will not even try to make something like that again. The pancakes are bluch. The blueberry muffin mix was not too bad. I also tried to make low carb cheese biscuits with the Atkins mix. That was nasty too. I really don't try to bake anymore with Atkins.

Oh, yeah, CarbSense hot cereal. A perfectly balanced blend of sawdust and library paste, for your breakfast enjoyment. Ugh.

Spinach "bread" from Suzanne Somers' recipe. Oh yuck! What a waste of good spinach. I do, however, love the mock french toast. Different strokes, I guess...

Are these the pancakes made with the Atkins Bake Mix, or are they from the pre-packaged mix? I like the latter. I haven't dared try the former...

I made up a huge batch of tuna pate once - from the look of the recipe it looked like a really jazzed up version of tuna salad. I ate two bites, and the rest ended up down the drain... I really hated to waste it but knew the rest of the family (husband, son, and dogs) wouldn't touch it, either.

It was from the premade mix (not Atkins bakemix). It might have been ok if I doctored it up, but the way it said to make it on the box was nasty!

It may be the whole cup of Joseph's syrup I put on them the last time I ate them...

I decided to make crab salad w/ the caned kind (Chucken of the sea or somethin'). I guess I didn't drain it well enough cuz it ended up runny after i mixed in the other stuff, so I said no big beal I'll add some white cheese & spinich, bake it & have hot crab dip. Nope, only a mess!!!
I also tried to make a monteray jack cheese sauce that ended up w/ a ball of rubbery material that was literaly unchewable. I threw away the ball of unknown material, added starch & fed it to my DH.

For me, the absolute worse was the "mock mashed potatoes". I should have known from the start that if you hate cauliflower, you're not gonna like this mess. It's just plain mashed cauliflower. It looked like mashed potatoes, it even had the butter and cream like mashed potatoes. BUT it was cauliflower. YUCK and double YUCK!

I also, as others have said, don't like ANY kind of substitutes for the high-carbers. They only leave me disappointed and missing the real thing. I've instead learned to live without all of it and can now enjoy fresh, REAL wholesome foods that aren't "doctored" to be anything more than they are.

I know alot of people here say it is good, and maybe I bought the wrong kind, but I bought a spaghetti squash in place of pasta. Cooked it like I was suppost to, and covered it in alfredo sauce......yuk! I think I bought the sweet one on accident, because that's what it tasted like. I don't know about you, but I don't like alfredo sauce on sweet things!

Just about all of my baking attempts, except for the Beachgirl Cheesecakes, have been total disaster:

* Almond pound cake -- Tasted more like cornbread

* Cream Cheese Brownies--Tasted like a chemistry lab experiment

* Mock Cheese Blintzes--All I could taste was egg

I'm just going to stick with stuff that's LC compatible from now on!!!

The worst for me was the mock french toast. Not good. I tasted the salty pork - and it just is not the taste of french toast.

I have been lucky with pancake mixes (keto pancakes and flax pancakes) - they cooked up well and tasted good. But... all the "baked" goods seem to stall me out... so I am saving that for when I end up on maintenance. Which hopefully won't be ALL that much longer (10 pounds to go!)!

This post is just so funny.

I also remember making a pumpkin cheese cake one time and this thing was the pits.

What a waste of good food too.

Oh I made the cheese crisps and the whole house stunk bad (I used pecorino romano)

I never understood all the raves for mock danish. It tastes like sweet scrambled eggs to me. blecch. If I want something sweet for breakfast, I'd rather have SF cheesecake.

One time I tried making pork rind cheese puffs using a recipe from another site. They turned out soggy and I had to throw out the whole batch.

I didn't like the mashed cauliflower either. Cheese, butter, and sour cream did nothing to cover up the cauliflower taste. Another vegetable disaster was radishes sauted in butter, recommended in Fran McCullough's low-carb cookbook as a substitute for new potatoes. omigosh they were awful!

The creamcheese brownies - GROSS. That was when I learned that Splenda is not the miracle we hope it is.

and that mashed cauliflower thing - double yuck. Love c'flower, but that was just horrible. I imagine thats what I'll be eating in the nursing home.

I really liked the mashed cauliflower, I over-cooked it, which gets rid of the distinctive taste, then mashed, added butter, salt and pepper, then put it back on the heat for a few minutes stirring constantly and it thickened up....yum!

My favourite is mashed turnip though - I luv it! Have it quite often, especially with roast chicken! That and buttered cabbage instead of pasta!

I've not made anything else because I've never seen Splenda or flax or this isolate stuff you all talk about! Scotland is in the dark ages where low carb is concerned!

My votes will also go to the Mock Danish - I DO NOT understand the excitement over that dish, because I took one bite and threw it out. I also agree, the Mock Egg Blintz thing was the same for me. I'm sure there are more...

Edited to add: Any and all pizza mixes/kits I have bought - BLECH!!!
