What is Flax meal

I have a recipe that calls for Flax meal and I do not know what that is, or where to buy it. If anyone can give me any info I would greatly appreciate it. TIA, Sharon

It is ground flax seed, which is very good for you. You should be able to find it at any health food store or whole foods grocer. Mixed with hot water, it also makes a tasty hot breakfast cereal.

It has equal carbs and fiber which would add up to o net carbs, but I'm not sure how to go about acconting for it in my diet/numbers. Seems to good to be true to be able to eat it on a regular basis. Would appreciate imput on this point.....

Edited to add that it also helps with constipation.

I found it at Kroger (my grocery store) this weekend sitting -- of all places -- in the produce department. They have a few healthier/organic type things that I'd never noticed before, and that's where it was. Bob's Red Mill is the brand, and it was $2.49 for a 1-lb. bag.

Flax seed and meal goes rancid very easily. Keep your bags in the refrigerator or freezer to keep it fresher longer.

It is GOOD stuff.

Flax is the seed of the flax plant (who would've ever guessed!) the stems of which are used to make the cloth, linen.
Its a very pretty plant-the flowers come in a beautiful sky blue and soft pink. Unground flax seeds will sprout, if you'd care to add this attractive plant to your garden
