cheesecake is egg-y

Made a cheesecake recipe from the recipe room and it tastes kinda like sweetened scrambled eggs. I'm thinking this is not right, but not sure.

So, are the cheesecakes everyone is raving about pretty close to actual real cheesecake? If so, I'll try another batch.

One thing I've learned on the WOE is not to give up!

The cheesecake tastes like cheesecake-the *danish* tastes like sweetened scrambled eggs. Which cheesecake did you make?

Beachgirls cheesecake is pretty good. I made one tonight and it is a regular cheesecake recipe. My old favorite cheesecake recipe in fact and I just left the crust off and substituted splenda for the sugar. I had to have a piece so i took a sliver while it was still hot but it is GOOD! If you had an old fav just sub the sugar for splenda and it works well.

my recipe

Try my cheesecake recipe. It's fantastic! I've also made it with chocolate swirled in (1 oz chocolate, melted, plus 3 tbsp maltitol and 1 cup of batter; drop on top of white batter and swirl, bake as recipe says)

Low-carb New York Style Cheesecake

32 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sour cream
5 large eggs
3/4 cup granular Splenda -OR- 18 packets
3 Tbsp. Maltitol Crystals
1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Oven 350°
Make sure eggs & cream cheese are at room temp.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth (I like to microwave mine for a few minutes first -- makes it easier). Add Splenda & Maltitol, mix well. Beat in cream and sour cream until smooth. Add eggs 1 at a time until well blended. Add vanilla and mix well. Pour into well-greased spring-form pan (think mine is a 10"). Bake approximately 60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool overnight.

12 servings, 5 grams of "net carbs" per serving.

(The Maltitol is pretty expensive though. I have made the recipe without it, using another 3 packets of splenda and it came out fine...the Maltitol just gives it a more creamy texture.)
