Lawry's Fire Roasted Chile & Garlic seasoning

This stuff is good!
I'd like to try and make my own version of it without the "natural flavors" that can be a name for MSG.
It lists sugar as the 2nd ingredient (also easily subbed out with splenda or something) but otherwise looks pretty do-able.
The serving size is 1/4tsp, and it's really salty tasting (I'd like to get that down some, too) but 1/4tsp is more than enough to season a steak or chicken breast easily.

Oooo, that sounds good - haven't seen that one!

Yeah, a sugarfree version would be great. MSG doesn't bother me or DH so I don't worry overly much about it.

That sounds really good. What did you make with it?

I know Lawry's lemon pepper seasoning is the best I've found, even though I don't like some of the ingredients.

I used it on burger patties and on grilled chicken thighs. So far, so good!

I bet it would've been good to marinate my carne asada too!

As it is, I used a Goya adobo seasoning. Just sprinkled it on both sides of some "sandwich steaks" aka very thinly-cut who-knows-what of beef.

If you figure out a homemade version - I'm all ears! (Eyes?!)

It sounds similar to a spice blend that I make called Prairie Dust. I seem to recall that I based my version of something I found online that was a copycat recipe from some restaurant. I hadn't thought of adding some chipotle chile powder but that's a great idea. No sweetener in this mixture though.

PRAIRIE DUST
1 tablespoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 1/4 teaspoons pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground coriander

Mix all of the spices in a small bowl then put in a spice jar. You can use it right away but I recommend allowing a day or two for the flavors to blend before using.

Makes about 10 teaspoons

I Googled the recipe and the original is from Longhorn Steakhouse. Theirs calls for regular paprika and I used smoked instead.

That sounds so good, Linda Sue, I've copied and will make some up this weekend. I can almost taste it in some nice grilled burgers!

It sounds a lot like Victoria Gourmet's "Smoked Paprika Chipotle Seasoning" I have been using. The VG brand is VERY hot, so I only use the tiniest amounts in Mexican recipes. It's VERY good, too.
