Need a substitute

Hello,
If I were to make a recipe that calls for 2 Tbsp flour, that is making a cheese sauce, what would be the best substitute? Could I just use almond flour? Or arrowroot flour? How much would I need? Thank you.

I've never used flour in my cheese sauces - I just add more cheese! It thickens up nicely.

I never add flour to my cheese sauces either. They get pretty thick without it in my opinion.

A few shakes of guar or xantham gum when needed. Allow a couple minutes between shakes and stirring- it takes a minute to thicken. Or use more cheese or less broth/liquid.
