New way to make grilled cheese?

Has anyone tried making a grilled cheese sandwich with a low carb bread that typically doesn't toast well by buttering the bread and putting cheese on it (I'm thinking cheddar), then pan-frying the cheese and it sticking to the bread to make a crunchy outside?

Darn if I'm not doing a stint of low calorie, low carb to shred some pounds- but it is an excellent way to grow a list of meals to try soon and to be fully thrilled with low carb again! Not feeling happy with your dietary restrictions? Restrict them some more- you'll be thrilled to go back!!

Jhoberer, what worked for me to get started again was the Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. If I am going to be hungry, but I wasn't, I wanted it to happen while I was asleep"

I make grilled cheese (any kind, even not LC) by buttering the outside of the bread and frying it in a skillet (with cheese on the inside). The butter makes it crunchy.

Is that what you mean? I will admit to being a little confused.

That is typical grilled cheese yes, but I am talking about coating the outside of the buttered break with a slice of cheddar and frying it (along with cheese in the middle) to make a crunchy outside (like the fried cheese "taco shells") as well as the melted inside.

Now I get it. That sounds good, but I haven't tried it.

I make grilled cheese by taking a slice of Kraft deli deluxe American cheese and I microwave it on parchment paper for about 30--45 seconds until it is crunchy. Then I put a little butter on it and another slice of cheese and microwave it for 10-15 seconds, just until the second slice of cheese is gooey. tastes like an open faced grilled cheese sandwich to me. Sometimes I add garlic to turn it into garlic cheese "bread".

I use the fathead pizza crust recipe, cut it into sandwich size, and make wonderful grilled sandwiches.
