Several weeks ago one of our neighbor friends brought Jay and I a simple little pear
dessert. It was so delicious that I asked for the recipe. She was kind enough to come
down and show me how. Since I don't use brown sugar, I must say that her dessert
tasted a bit better than mine, but we were very happy with the results. If you want
an elegant dessert, but you don't care to make cake or pies, this is your answer.

A maintenance dessert
6 Bosc pears peeled, halved and clean out the seeds
Lay the pears on a baking sheet, foil lined or parchment lined
Sprinkle the pears with brown sugar (I use brown sugar sub.)
Melt butter in a small pan and put about 1/2 tsp. vanilla in it.
Pour the butter mixture over the pears. Now sprinkle with cinnamon.
Cover very tightly with extra heavy foil. Crimp it firmly.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Pears should be perfect, no falling
apart. These are delicious with a tad of vanilla lc pudding or ice cream.

Bosc pears do not fall apart when cooked.
I have a convection oven and they cooked about 40 minutes to perfection.

That made my mouth water - I love pears and this sounds so simple! Thanks girlfriend!

I wonder if Tagatose would work well in this application, with it's tendency to caramelize, it might give a hint of the brown sugar taste?

Putting pears on my shopping list!

Thanks Char and Chickamommy,

I made a LC vanilla pudding and put a dollop inside each pear half.
If you are maintenance this is a wonderful and simple dish.

I'm thinking my homemade vanilla/SF honey yogurt would be AWESOME with this recipe!
