Don't you just hate it when...

you see a thread and you're sure you'll remember where it is because you want to go back and read it only you can't find it and when you do a search that thread doesn't come up??!!

I KNOW there was a thread with the title of "Pork Belly" and I can't find it now and it's making me crazy. I went to TJs today specifically to buy they're pork belly that I read about in their Fearless Flyer knowing that I could go back to that thead and get some ideas on what to do with the pork belly. I even bought TWO packages because I'm sure I'm going to love it. But, now...

Yes, I do! Which is why I use the Subscribe feature! Go up to Thread Tools, and pick Subscribe to this Thread.

Ever after, you can go to User Control Panel and List Subscriptions and there ya go!

Does that mean I always DO that? Oh heck no. That would be WAY to simple.

As for the pork belly - I saw that on their Frequent Flyer too. I think you can just cut it into about 1" widths and panfry til crispy on the sides. That's my plan anyway, once I finally get some of it!

Thanks! I forgot about the subscribe option. My plan right now is to just pan fry it, but I know there has to be more possibilities. I saw that All Day I Dream About Food has a recipe for homemade chicharrones. I'm not sure I'm up for that, but we'll see.

Thanks! Your link worked just fine!
Yes, this is one of the threads. But, I'm positive I saw another one with just someone asking for ideas on what to do with pork belly. I thought the title of the thread was just "pork belly". It's going to drive me crazy. I KNOW I saw it.

Here's another one from the Main Lobby but I'm not sure which page it was on, I just copied the link. From December '13:

Oh my word.... belly pork!

That's not the one I'm thinking of, though. I saw it in the last several days to a week. I wonder where the heck I saw it??

Chocolate Rose,

I don't know which pork belly thread you're looking for - sorry. But we LOVE the pork belly from Trader Joe's. I stock up when I'm there and freeze it for later use.

Here's how I typically prepare it:

Preheat a heavy skillet (cast iron works well) over med. heat.
Remove pork belly from pouch and dry well with paper towels. Season pork to taste - last time I used Northwoods Seasoning from Penzey's (salt, paprika, black pepper, thyme, rosemary, garlic and chipotle.) Place the pork belly in the preheated pan and let sear 3 to 4 minutes (don't move it around, let it be to get a good brown crust.) Flip pork and repeat sear on the other side. Remove pork to a cutting board, cover with foil, and let stand for 3-4 minutes. Slice into 1-inch slices.

I like to serve this over a spring-mix salad tossed with basic vinaigrette (olive oil, white wine vinegar, a dash of Dijon mustard, salt & pepper.) The tanginess of the vinaigrette goes well with the fattiness/richness of the pork belly. We also like it with mashed rutabaga. But we will eat it by itself, too - it's that good!

Hey, I posted in that thread...I did cook it too. Liked the meat, hated the crackling part, too chewy and sticky fatty. The meat was very oily/fatty like duck so I made a green salad with green peppers and oil/vinegar to balance, keep the mouth clean, if you know what I mean. Let me see if I can find that thread.
