need batter....help

hi everyone...i am in need of a great batter or dredge for frying onions, calamari and colossal shrimp...please any suggestions..oh btw a great little to no breadcrumb crabcake recipe, like the one from costal flats....that resturant has the best crab cakes....

Do you have any Carbquik? My favorite tempura-style batter is 2 cups of CQ and a bottle of either beer or seltzer (12 oz.) - mix it up and let stand 10 minutes or so. Dredge item to be fried in some dry CQ, shake off excess, then dunk in batter and fry in hot oil. I always drop the temp by 25* from what the recipe calls for, and watch the food carefully, as CQ browns more quickly than regular flour.

Hi Charski, thnx for that tip..I do have CQ...I will definitely give it a try..prob experiment on some onion rings....
