Need a generic sauce?

I'm trying to eat better, but I need to find a sauce for chicken or other things. I need a ranch or something like that , but cant find anything that is healthy for me. Anyone know any sauce that I don't need to worry about sodium and calories. Thanks for any suggestions.

What is your eating plan? Sodium isn't an issue for people eating low carb, in fact people eating low carb need a lot of it. Calories aren't usually that big of a deal either for low carb plans.

I make a lot of cheese and mayo based dipping sauces, just playing around with seasonings and other condiments. Today I made one mixing cream cheese, spicy mustard, and a tiny bit of splenda. It was delicious, and I'll be making it often. I had it with London broil, but it would go well with chicken, pork, and veggies too.

But it's not particularly low in sodium or calories; I don't count those.

I had a stroke a couple of years ago , and they suggested that I try and keep my sodium around 2000 mg's. Its hard for me keeping around 2000, so i am hoping to keep the sodium low because i need the salt for the other food . Im also trying to eat less carbs. I definitely don't use Atkins standards, I just don't eat chips anymore and try to not eat bread. Thanks for any suggestions guys. Checking Linda's low carb link rite now.

Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Cream Sauce

This cream sauce goes well with chicken, pork chops or veal cutlets. I have never tired it it with beef. Lot's of flavor but the key is to use FRESH basil, dried just doesn't give the same result. Hope you like it. I usually double it as it doesn't make enough for how many I cook for. If there are any left overs, it does freeze well. Will post this as a separate thread incase others don't read this one.

Sun dried tomato and Basil Cream

1 TBS Olive Oil
1 TBS Unsalted Butter
¼ Cup diced Sun Dried tomatoes
3 large cloves diced
½ Cup dry white wine
½ Heavy Cream
¼ Cup Monteray Jack Cheese
¼ Cup Fresh Basil

Combine olive oil butter in sauce pan over low to medium heat.

Add tomatoes and garlic until just tender.

Stir in wine and cream until warm.

Add cheese and stir constantly until melted.

Stir in basil cover and let stand until ready to use.

You can adjust the amounts to tweak it to the flavoring you like. I use this as a salad dressing, dipping sauce for wings or pork skins... my absolute favorite.
The amounts I am listing below will be for 2 servings.

"honey" mustard sauce

4 tablespoons Hellman's Mayo
2 or 3 tsps French's yellow mustard
1/2 to 1 pkt splenda (optional)
pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
pinch of ground black pepper

Stir all ingredients together. I think it tastes even better if you let it sit for an hour or so in the fridge. But it is still tasty good if used right away.

Remember you can tweak amounts to get just the flavor you want. But it was such a relief to find something quick and easy and oh so versatile!

Yes, this! Also good with mayo and sriracha.

If you have Costco, look for the Greek yogurt jalapeno dip. It's so delicious on everything.

I like turkey or chicken just dipped into plain mayo, too! Especially the McCormicks mayonesa - Mexican-style mayo made with lime juice. You could make your own of that too - mayo, lime, a little garlic and onion powders.

You can also use Greek yogurt or sour cream in place of the mayo for most of these ideas.

I love Frank's Wing Sauce, I swear they put addictive chemicals in the stuff that make you crave it. I eat it with almost all my meats.
