Calling American low-carbers

Hey folks, I'm in England and we're sort of limited in our low-carb specific products, but I'm moving to America within the next year, and until then I visit regularly. I'm thinking about what low-carb products I could try when I'm next in America, and what products I could bring home with me.

So far I'm looking at getting Crystal Light, low-carb or sugar-free peanut butter cups, coconut oil (so difficult and expensive to get in the UK!), and some of that Mexican frying cheese I hear so much about. Maybe try some of the Atkins brand frozen meals while I'm there too.

Anything else you'd recommend?

Are you able to get some of the baking ingredients like oat fiber, almond flour, coconut flour, psyllium husk powder? Glucomannan powder? Or the different types of protein powders? I travel a fair amount, and love taking my pre-made batches of Ouizoid's Better Than Flour mix with me on my trips. I've never had any confiscated by security lol.

Are you sure that you can't find almond flour there? I bought my very first bag of it in England at Sainsbury's many years ago. Mind you, it was a tiny bag and not cheap but it was the same as what they sell over here. I seem to recall that they had it where they sell nuts for baking.

I make my own ground almond meal, pecan meal and sunflower seed meal.
You need a machine like a Vita Mix and it does the job for you.

When I lived in England I didn't bake. One Danish bakery across the
Kings Road and one around the corner that was English bakery.
Oh those were the days. I had double Devon cream delivered to my door
by horse cart. We knew when the Danish's were iced and ready to go
out still warm. I gained 10 lbs. the first month I lived there. Still it was
such fun. Your smoked kippers cannot be beat!

Might want to add some kind of sweetener? Maybe some whey protein powder? I know I use it to cook with as well as shakes, mocha's and such. Someone mentioned it in a 'coffee bomb'. I think that'd be good too. Sugar free chocolate? Good luck with your move!
