Sub for golden flaxmeal

I found this recipe on Linda's website: CINNAMON-APPLE FLAX MUFFINS - Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

I really like the taste but am having problems with so much flaxmeal , if you know what I mean. Can I use 1/2c of almond meal and 1/2c of flaxmeal instead of the 1 c of flaxmeal called for in the recipe?

I know it will change the carb count. Since I don't do a lot of low carb baking, I'm not sure if 1/2c of almond meal would equal the flaxmeal or if I would need to adjust anything else.

Thanks for any help!

Oh, I'm sure you could sub in some almond flour for up to half the flax. No other adjustments would be needed most likely. Would likely get an even better muffin IMO. I don't like the taste of too much flax.

What Peggy says. And for me - it's more the slippery mouthfeel than the taste! I just don't like it!

I'm allergic to flax. I use ground chia seeds ( aka chia flour ) in recipes that call for flax.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably make these this coming week. I actually don't mind the taste of the flax.....it's the after effects

Just wanted to say thanks for the link. I know you don't like Flax Meal but I do & the recipe was great. I did omit the molasses & apple mix since I didn't have any and I added some berries instead. Will try them next week with Coconut flour.
