Need non-dairy smoothie recipes that have ratings
Hi guys I'm looking for healthy smoothie recipes that do not use yogurt or ice cream--those are more like shakes anyway. I have been looking all over, on this site and others, for smoothie recipes that have a good amount of ratings. Can't find much.

Most of the smoothie recipes I found include yogurt or ice cream. The ones that don't simply have no ratings! I made some smoothies a while back but they were so bad. I need tried and true, proven smoothie recipes without dairy. If I have to buy a book to get them, I will.

Oh and one more very important point. I tried silk almond milk recently and hated it. It was so bad! Way too sweet and just nasty! So I can't have that in the recipes either.

I hope someone knows the answer to this dilemma. Thanks!

Seeking - did you try unsweetened almond milk? They have several different types for sale, and I can't stand the sweetened varieties but do like the unsweetened. I can only find unsweetened chocolate in the shelf-stable packs, but can get the unsweetened plain and vanilla in the dairy case. Huge difference in carbs and calories between the sweetened/unsweetened too!

Please don't rule out the unsweetened almond milk or coconut milks as ingredients. I don't particular like either one of them plain. But I go through at least a quart of each weekly using them as ingredients in "stuff." They're pretty darn neutral, really.

I find xanthum gum helps with the consistency of any smoothy...I add 1/8 teaspoon to 12 ounces or more of liquid ingredient...you have you sprinkle it in or it will get lumpy. You can buy a container and it will last you for years.

I freeze almond milk in ice cube trays and use that with fruit in smoothies. Very good

I make this almost every day:

1 scoop chocolate protein powder (Jay Robb)
1 T PB2 (optional, but very good)
1 teaspoon xanthan gum (not optional - this is what suspends the ice crystals)
1 1/2 cups chocolate almond breeze
1/4 cup sweetener
12 oz crushed ice

Blend until smooth.

I use the unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze. I also add cucumber, zuchinni, romaine, fresh spinach or other light veggies, along with some frozen strawberries and sweetener. Doesn't look good, but no dairy and tastes yummy. I can also use the unsweetened chocolate and do much the same thing. Low calorie, low carb and low fat. If you want higher fat, add some melted coconut oil.

I use almond milk and frozen dairy free yogurt and frozen berries. I also use tangerine kool aid , frozen cantolope , d/f yogurt for a low carb orange julius. YUM YUM!!!

I use pea protein or hemp sometimes in my smoothies.

Well, if you're talking NO DAIRY and won't consider almond milk, basically you only have 1 option: Puree different berries or fruit up with ice, pure water or coconut milk/coconut cream, plus sweetener/extracts. So just do some experimenting. Ratings from others are never as good as ratings from your own taste buds, anyway.

usePLAIN UNSWEETENED almond milk. It's not saccharine tasting like the sweetened vanilla flavored ones are that are over sweetened with cane sugar and whatever else. The plain unsweetened almond milk is a bit less sweet than plain milk.
