which brand of coconut and almond flours?

My kids are hassling me about the no bread thing (it is a convenience food so they can make their own meals), so I wanted to try some coconut and almond flour recipes even though I don't really want it around at all (trigger food for me), it might be okay in some moderation.

Anyway, what are your preferred brands (online, I don't have anything local) for quality and low cost for coconut and almond flour? Is it cheaper to buy supplies and make my own (I have a Cuisinart food processor and a Vitamix blender)? If so, what supplies (whole almonds or coconut flakes) do you prefer? tia

I prefer both products from Honeyville, and shipping is a flat four dollars and change no matter how large your order is. Their blanched almond flour is the best, very fluffy. I use their coconut flour as well, it does not seem to be as "coconutty" as others I have tried. I am fortunate to live about 25 minutes from a Honeyville store, very nice place to get dehydrated veggies and fruit as well.

You can make your own almond flour I did it for years.
I listened to Charski and bought Honeyvilles blanched almond flour. What a world of difference. Love it.
Coconut flour at Honeyville grain is awesome.
Emma have you tried Ouizoid's mix ? I will get it for you.

This mix will make cake and many other great foods. I've been doing this for more than 20 years and it is the best.

Also you can take the blanched almond flour and homemade make almond butter.
Then make almond butter bread. It's great.

My Costco has Bob's Red Mill brand and it is good. You can buy it online too.

I have bought the Trader Joes almond flour, but it isn't as "fine" as the Bobs.

I have been making my own, but while the kids are eating it, they lament the loss of fluffy white stuff! I know it is better too, but hoping some commercial stuff might be better than my homemade. Worth a shot. I am fine without bread and noodles, shocked that I don't crave them, and I don't even plan to eat much of the baked goods myself, but their convenience when feeding kids is very missed!

Bob's Red Mill is carried locally in stores, but I can't choke down the cost. Online Honeyville has good prices. These two are cheaper at Amazon: has anyone tried them?

I haven't used those. But I did buy my Honeyville Almond Flour and my Bob's Red Mill Coconut Flour both from Amazon. It qualified for free shipping which then cost me less than ordering the same size from Honeyville.

If you sign up for Honeyville's newsletter, about every other month they run either a 10%, 15% or 20% off sale. 10 and 15 more often than the 20. That, is the time to buy.

My Costco just started carrying the Bob's Red Mill almond flour. I've never tried it since I use Honeyville's, but the BRM was, I believe, $17.00 for 3 lbs., a lot less than the normal 1 lb. price in other stores ($10/lb I think?).

Mine (BRM) is about $12 or more per lb. in the local stores here. So yes, that is a much better price. Now if we would only get a Costco around here

I make my own almond flour. It's so expensive... some day I'll splurge, but right now I make my own. I've made coconut flour, too, but don't use it too much.
