Attention all you smart LC bakers...soft pretzel recipe needed.

First off, I don't know how to make a high carb soft pretzel, let me get that out of the way

I do need a LC soft pretzel recipe. Like the ones you dip in cheese sauce. IDK when I'll make them, but this is a recipe I need in my file. There are so many pretzel bun dogs and burgers out right now, and I never could pass up a pretzel bun dog...til now.

So all you guys that are so good with the lc baking mixes and what not, help me out.

Gee, I just saw a pic of one the other day, but not sure where I was surfing, sorry.....It was likely on Pinterest. Just Googling "low carb soft pretzel" brings up tons of pics and recipe though to take a look at.

Birgit used to post on LCF, and she made some LC pretzels a while back. Check her site. They are from 10-11-11. She made pretzel sticks, and some regular pretzel shapes. You can bake them into crisp pretzel sticks, or cut the baking time for softer pretzel shapes.

Thanks Creative, I'm familiar with Birgit.

I was looking for a tried and true recipe, not just a guess and check and see if it works lol. That's why I asked my people on here that I know can bake.

Let me look in Kevinpa's recipe. It's hard for me to remember but I loved one when I used wheat. It was really tasty.

I found Kevins pretzel recipe. Which is absolutely wonderful.

It was some doing to find it. Here ya go.

Just a Simple White Bread Thread

Post # 582 is the recipe. I thought we had a picture of them but I couldn't find it. I know it is somewhere or that is I remember when I made these.

You can asked me questions and I'll try to remember. You have never made pretzels so you have to simmer them then bake them. I'll let you read it first.

FINALLY FOUND THAT RECIPE I said I saw recently! Just Google for a site called "A Girl Worth Saving" and do a search in her search box for "soft pretzels" and it will come up. Scroll down mid-page and there's a pic/video on making them. But she eats the Paleo diet and uses tapioca flour in her recipe. Not sure what you could sub in for that, but maybe resistant wheat starch 75, if you eat any wheat products. KevinPa used it in a lot of his bread recipes here.

Have you ever made this recipe, or a tweaked version of it? I'd love pretzels, but I don't do wheat.

I haven't made it myself. I don't do wheat either. I was thinking about subbing in a bit of gludomannan and maybe some whey protein powder for the 1/2 tapioca flour she calls for.

I just don't know, Tracy. If I ever get around to trying them, I'll probably add it very slowly, in 1/4 tsp. increments, stirring and waiting to allow it to do its thing and then repeat if/until my dough looks slightly gummy like her dough looks in the video at the beginning. The dough in the video kinda reminds me of my gluc dumpling dough after it gets stiff.
