Went to Walmart and...

Guess what they now carry?...

PB2 :jumpjoy: It was $4 ( something per jar) not bad i think..

I been wanting to Oder some from Netrition for like, forever, mainly due to all the great reviews.. Can't wait to try it :up, oh and the checkout gal said its been selling like crazy. She even asked me what i was "gonna do with it?" I told her "eat it of course"

Walmart continues to amaze me. I've found a lot of stuff there that was previously unknown to me (ingredients for low-carb cooking).

The other day I was looking for a particular pizza sauce recipe (I wanted one that was extra tomato-y) and found several comments saying to start with San Marzano tomatoes. Online stores wanted an arm and a leg for them, but guess what??? My Walmart has them for just over $3 a can lol. Kinda shocked...but a happy shock!

Good to know about the PB2!!!

Back to add...
I've seen those tomatoes there before! Good deal

Beth2013 06-06-2013 09:04 AM

Awesome :)

So weird they carry PB2 but don't have coconut flour (which I'd consider a much more main-stream ingredient, but guess not).

There my be hope though, cause our Walmart has a nice Gluten free section, which seems to be increasing monthly , but, yup, no coconut flour (yet) though..

Beth2013 06-06-2013 09:23 AM

But they have vital wheat gluten stocked in the regular flour section lol. I guess lots of people must use it (I'm still not sure what it is).

Oh yeah, , I've seen that too, but I would not know what to do with it, and there is something about the word "Gluten" that  Don't ask me why

Putz 06-06-2013 09:47 AM

I found Walden Farms no cal/no carb chocolate peanut spread at Walmart for about $4. I thought it was awful. LOL Lessen learned on that one.

Beth2013 06-06-2013 09:48 AM

Hahaha...it's the word 'vital' that gets to me every time! I keep thinking -- vital to whom?

Still, I keep thinking I should get some since it is vital lol!

Beth2013 06-06-2013 09:55 AM

Putz -- 'no cal no carbs'??? Was there even any real chocolate or peanuts in it? lol!

I'll give my assessment...

Yup, No cals, NO carbs and NO taste!!!!!!!

As to the supposed chocolate and peanuts?,...perhaps there was some in the 3rd jar :lol::lol:

Beth2013 06-06-2013 10:04 AM

^^^^ Hahaha!

Putz 06-06-2013 10:35 AM

It was definitely bad. I was pleasantly suprised finding the PB2 there. I can handle that stuff :)

Beth2013 06-06-2013 11:13 AM

Is it by the peanut butter or in the baking section? I doubt I'd have ever noticed it if not for this forum!

LOLOLOL Did you take a funny pill today, Beth? You totally cracked me up there. I always wondered why they named it that myself. :)

Putz 06-06-2013 11:22 AM

I found the PB2 by the nut butters and apple butter.

heahyou00 06-06-2013 11:49 AM

I havent tried the PB2 yet, but want too, I was just at Walmart yesterday, guess I will have to look for it when I head back there. I was looking for Lavish Bread yesterday and they didnt carry it at my Walmart :( Im hoping they will have the PB2 cause I want to make choc/pb milkshakes :)

Beth2013 06-06-2013 12:35 PM

I just did a search for my particular store and it's not listed. Then I searched the general site and it's not listed there either. Maybe it's too new to have made the product list. They have one that can be ordered, but it's not Belle Plantation.

Our Walmart just got the PB2 in last week...:)

froggyx6 06-06-2013 01:34 PM

We have four Walmarts here and only one has the lavash bread. Unfortunately it's the farthest one from me. I make a special trip there occasionally, stock up and freeze it. I'll have to check for the PB2.

SkeeterN 06-06-2013 03:26 PM

So what does one do with powdered peanut butter you cannot do with regular?

rosethorns 06-06-2013 03:28 PM

You guys are are funny.:jumpjoy:Really funny.

Vital wheat gluten is what you use in low carb & high carb bread to make it have more gluten. It gives it better rise, increases protein and used with other flours.

Our beloved Kevin pa used this a lot. Check out his recipes.'

If you are allergic or celiac or no wheat products , then you can not use this product.

I'm going to look for the pb2 I'm almost out. I use it alot in Gina's pb cookies and in pb cups.

Look for Lavash and flat out bread down the isle with bread and tortillias. That's the last pplace I found them.

I am very excited by that news!!! I love PB2!!! I have heard that there is coconut butter and lo and behold, I found it in my nut butter section. Have not seen the PB2, but have 2 jars in the pantry so don't need it quite yet. I will keep my eye open though. I am excited to see so many low carb items are getting into local stores. Very exciting!!!

On the flip side...my Bi Lo is clearancing out the coconut almond milk in the fridge section. I love that milk for my shakes, so not happy about losing that source. Hoping other stores in my area will continue to stock it.

Beth2013 06-06-2013 04:34 PM

I just got back from my Walmart and they have it!!! The bad news is they were out, but at least I found the empty space on the shelf where it was supposed to be (and stood there and stared at it like it would magically appear lol).

Rosethorns: Thanks for telling us about the vital wheat gluten. I guess I just haven't baked enough in my lifetime, but I've never seen that in a recipe. I think I do recall seeing it in a few recipes here, though.

I found some carb smart tortillas at Walmart, too, but I can't have them yet so I'll wait and get them later. Those are supposedly good, right?

heahyou00 06-06-2013 04:42 PM

The best tortillas I found is Mission Low Carb ones, they taste just like the regular flour ones ,I have served them to family and they dont even have a clue that they are low carb!!

Beth2013 06-06-2013 04:48 PM

Great news. The ones I saw were by Mission.

tofucheez 06-06-2013 05:34 PM

I'm gonna be the stick in the mud... I love love love PB2 but detest Walmart......and love Netrition. I'll continue to get mine from Netrition.

Smiles 06-06-2013 08:53 PM

I'm not the only one that was thrilled to see PB2 in Walmart when I was there a few weeks ago :hyst: I love that stuff. I've used it reconstituted as well as in the powdered form in shakes. It's so awesome how it cuts the calories way down. I'd use it for all my pb baking needs, but it's way too expensive for that, as I use a lot of pb.
