What brand of coffee do you buy?

I just got a coffee maker for my home, yay! But now I need to buy some coffee and I've never really made coffee at home so I don't know much about all the different brands. I would love to hear what people's favorites are. Something I can pick up in the regular grocery store would be great, and in all honesty the cheaper the better because I'm a wee bit broke (hence the need to stop buying my coffee at 7-Eleven every morning, haha!). What are your favorite "bargain brands" ? Also, if I want cinnamon coffee can I put cinnamon into the coffee grounds so it brews together? How much?

We really love the Sumatra Blend from World Market. It is only 11.99 for 2 pounds and every 10th bag you buy is free. Chock Full o' Nuts is another one that is very inexpensive and good. Also Eight o'Clock coffee is quite good. We grind our own beans and make it fresh.

I am naming those brands because we bought expensive coffee for so long and it was often bitter and not as good as some of the more inexpensive ones.

I buy master chef brand from walmart or aldi's coffee. I never buy expensive. To me its all the same once you add creamer and all that.

I add cinnamon and sometimes pumpkin pie spice to my grounds for a pick up after dinner!! It cuts calories when I am in a have to have a sweet mood. My sister uses apple pie spice in hers but I havent tried it at home, but I do love drinking it at her house. I am all for flavoring the grounds!

honestly, if you put cinnamon in, probably the quality of the coffee won't matter that much. try the cheapest brands and see. you go through it SO FAST that one can will be gone soon enough if you don't like it.

I would recommend instant coffee, but you already have the coffeemaker... Taster's Choice is really good, in my opinion. I don't LIKE dark roast, and all the gourmet coffees are too dark nowadays.

Millstone is good from WalMart. I like Gevalia and get it on a not so regular basis.

Sometimes they sell Dunkin Donuts and that is a good coffee, too..

If I'm making coffee from scratch, I love Dunkin' Donuts. I only drink decaf, and theirs is good.

Mostly, though, I drink Nescafé instant decaf.

I buy the store brand in 2lb containers for about $5 and think it's great. Buying coffee at the shops isn't in my budget anymore, but I used to all the time....and this stuff is every bit as good. I actually prefer it to the shops.

Re the cinnamon in the grounds....just add a little bit....it forms a sludge with water and will make the water drain from the basket slowly and overflow if you use too much.

My favorite coffee in the whole wide world is Seattle's Best...the #1 bag which is their most mild...really smooth with mo harsh bite. I've paid as little as $4.00 per pound bag at Target and $6.99 at our local Winco. I have probably tried every brand out there and for me this is the best. I put 2 tbl. Coconut oil in my stainless steel thermos like cup, some heavy cream in then then the coffee. I screw on the lid, shake it up and for me, better than anywhere else I've bought coffee out!

We use High Falutin' Jose from Costco. We grind beans and
use 3 parts Colombian to 1 part French Roast. It works
for us. Jay is black with sugar sub. I am Boston coffee with ss.

We love Columbian along with others. I found the trick with cinnamon recently. Don't use the ground cinnamon. It can clog up the filter (ask me how I know). I was messing around in the kitchen and busted up a Piece of cinnamon and put a few pieces/shards on top of the ground coffee in the filter, then turned it on. It was really good! That's the Only way I put cinnamon in coffee now. No clogging at all. I just put the stick(s) between a couple of small paper plates and busted them up with the butt of my chef's knife (didn't have a hammer handy). Then I put it in a small container and just put a few shards in whenever I want cinnamon in the coffee, which is most of the time.

Wow so many opinions. As always LOL. In Consumer Reports a while back they found the best coffee was "Eight O'Clock" coffee. That can be found in any supermarket. And is very good. I buy what is on sale and what I have a coupon for, as I am not a coffee snob. I have some coffee that Walmart was clearancing out for $3 a bag. Tastes just fine to me!! I agree with the poster above that says if you are going to add cinnamon to it, the brand/taste won't matter too much. The spice will alter the taste. I add cocoa powder sweetener and enough cream to mine to alter the taste.

DH on the other hand, is a coffee snob. The stronger the better for him. He likes it black so taste matters much to him. Good thing we have a Keurig! He can have his strong coffee and I can have my weak coffee. Works for us!

i alternate Savarin with an occasional specialty coffee.

My (earth)aunt used Savarin. I used to stay at her house when (earth) mom and dad were on vacation, or other recreational activities. I have been drinking coffee since I was about 4. No, it did not stunt my growth. I am taller than the average Ferenghi. On the outside, I prefer diner coffee. However, the McDs in my neck of the woods have good coffee as well. I like my joe w/o any kind of sweetener, and just a tsp of cream(yes, even the large size). FF

My favorite is Community medium roast in either the Breakfast Blend or Hotel Blend and it often goes on sale for $3.99 per bag. My husband drinks Walmart coffee but I can't stand the taste or the smell of it. I buy it for him because it's the cheapest brand there is and he has no sense of taste anyway. He drinks it purely for the caffeine. I drink Community just for the flavor because caffeine does nothing for me. If anything, it makes me sleepy. I'd buy decaf but Community no longer makes a medium roast decaf and I don't care for dark roast.

When I was in college, I lived 2 blocks from a PEETS store, and was delighted when (too many years later) I started seeing PEETS in my local grocery store. I buy their Major Dickason's Blend and grind it myself, usually with a touch of cinnamon on top. Yum! But PEETS coffees are seriously dark roasted, so you have to like that.

I wouldn't say that it has no effect on me but I think I've nearly gotten used to it since I started drinking coffee every day. It sometimes makes my head feel fuzzy and drowsy and makes it hard for me to focus on what I'm doing. I have a hard time imagining what it would be like for coffee to perk me up like they say it does. I've never experienced that feeling. But then I rarely feel sleepy or groggy in the morning anyway and usually get up quite early.

Folgers black silk, gevalia, or any Colombian beans that you grind. I make mine strong as I use half and half in it. McDonalds has a great cup of coffee as does jack in the box with their kona.

I like Dunkin Donuts, when we can afford it/once in a blue moon. It's very smooth to me.

I've bought Walmart's store brand and thought it was good, too. Currently we have Gevalia since I got it for such a great deal on their site a couple of weeks ago. It's nothing special, but it's fine.

I don't like Starbucks. At least, not so much the stuff in their shops. Tastes very burnt. Didn't think their bagged stuff was anything special when someone gifted me a bag once. Caribou Coffee shops are great, though I haven't tried the bagged stuff in the grocery store.

Mostly I buy what I can afford. Sometimes that is Folgers. Sometimes it is a package of Tassimo discs for my single cup machine. I'm not real picky.

I have often added cinnamon, ground and chunks, to the filter basket. It's nice to mix it up now and then. I've also ripped open spiced tea bags and added to the filter. Yum.

I like a very strong, dark roast. In the US, I get a French roast from Trader Joe's or else the Gevalia at Walmart. Here in Sweden, they're all good!

Surprising fact: coffee gets bitter and acidic when you add too little coffee, not too much. Old cookbooks always called for two level tablespoons per coffee cup (6 oz) of water. And that's a great amount, even though it might seem too much at first.
