Chia Seeds

OK so I went out and bought some chia seeds...not what do I do with them? Any suggestions on your favorite way to use these little guys?

I put a tbsp in a huge bottle of water and add crystal light. They gel up and are refreshing to drink.

I put them in smoothies. Not for taste or anything, I have heard they are good for me.

I used to stir a teaspoon or so into my Carbmaster yogurts when I was eating them... I really enjoyed it that way :) Sometimes I'd stir it up really good and put it back in the fridge for a bit and they'd gel up a little bit which would give the yogurt a nice texture when I went to eat it.

Pre-LC I used to mix it into steel cut oats too, and it was good :)

Start with just a little bit because they can cause a tummy ache.

I grind them up in my grinder and add them to smoothies. I used to hydrate them in water 9:1 (water:chia seeds), letting them sit in the fridge for hours to days, and taking spoonfuls to put in whatever. The mucilaginous qualities are supposed to aid digestion (like aloe or flax).

I make a pudding with them by adding almond milk and DaVinci syrup. Let them soak overnight and it's a "tapioca like" textured pudding with whatever flavor syrup you use.

I put them in my meatballs and meat loaves to make them juicy.

They are really good in wild meats to give moisture.

Hmmm...intriguing! I would have never thought to use them in meatloaf or meatballs! I tried them today with heavy whipping cream/ water Splenda, Cinnamon, nutmeg and the chia seeds. It's a version of one of the tapioca like recipes on here. It was really good. A little too sweet, so next time I will lower the amount of sweetener. What a great summertime treat. I used to love rice and tapioca pudding ant this really hits the spot! All it needed was a squirt of whipped cream on the top. Great stuff. I'm glad I tried them.!
