Ninja food processor

For those of you that have one, how do you like it? I am in the market for a new food processor. I want one that's not too big, but able to handle grinding nuts and shredding cheese and cabbage.

I am leaning toward a Ninja, but some of the reviews aren't too good about the plastic blade spindle breaking, and that it's hard to clean.

Any other recommendations? I have a small budget so pricey luxury models are out.

I've never had any problem cleaning it. I just put hot water and detergent
in with the blades and turn it on for a few seconds, dump the suds in the
dishwater, and finish cleaning it up with a sponge. And as far as breakage,
from what I understand, most of the broken ones were trying to chop celery.
I have never put celery in mine, but it does great with everything else.
I've even made yeast bread dough in it- it came with a kneading blade.
I read hundreds (literally!) of reviews before we got this one, and most of the
complaints were coming from people who were trying to chop celery.

Umm, this was probably 16 to 18 months ago. I'm not sure if there are new
issues with Ninja blenders, but I just wanted to qualify that statement. I've
had mine since November or December of 2011, and no complaints from me!

Cuisinarts are sooooooo good.

I love my Ninja... I'd be lost without it :) I got it as a gift, but it was definitely one of the better ones I've gotten. I've had it for two years now, everything's still in working order, the blades haven't dulled at all (seriously, those things are SHARP!), and I've never had issues cleaning it. I think they're great!

We nought the ninja a few weeks ago and I love it! We got the one with the small and large containers. I mostly use the small one. It's so much easier to handle and clean. I have no idea why someone would say its hard to clean

Thanks, everyone! Ninja it is. Went to Wal-Mart today to buy one but they only had the blender one so ordering one online today. Yay!

I tried to grind almonds in mine...the smaller container and cauliflower too...I find it doesn't work well unless I stop every few seconds and scrape down the sides which is kind of hard to do with that lid that doesn't come off very easy. Not my favorite appliance but maybe someone could let me know if I am using wrong approach.

I see pictures of people using food processors and they pull down the food and grind every last bit. Just wish it was that easy with my ninja.

ninja

I used to have trouble processing cauli too . Then I included a small amount of cream before starting . works great.i also add some cream cheese for mashed potato sub and only remove the top one time. i also think it's easy to clean.

Just got one of these at an estate sale for $10.00! I would love to find recipes for frozen drink and such with the warm weather coming in!

Any recipes you guys can lead me to?

Thanks.....:hugs:

I 'inherited' mine when my dad moved to a retirement community apartment and it is the one with the motor on the top, I like it pretty well. I have only ever made cranberry-orange salad with it for thanksgiving but it did a good job with it. I want to try using it to 'rice' cauli, but haven't done it yet.

I just got a ninja with all the bells and whistles. the single serve is great for smoothies which our whole family uses. I just used the bowl/food processor and it was great for making the vegies uniform. haven't used the big blender tho. I plan on shredding a block of cheese in the bowl part. we love it! still learning to utilize it.

Yes, I think I am underusing mine. I have to branch out and do more than just smoothies.

Indeed.... ours is 15 years old and still going, and it gets used A LOT..... but the plastic bowl parts look like they might be getting brittle, and I don't know if they still sell replacements. If mine breaks I will likely get a Ninja.

I bet they sell replacements. I have a Kitchen Aid food processor that is 18 years old and was able to order a new plastic bowl last year.

We bought one a few weeks ago and I LOVE it!!!!! We got the Pro that comes with the two travel cups as well as the big pitcher. I use it at least twice a day. In the mornings I make a protein breakfast shake with a Pure Protein shake, chia seeds, cinnamon, a splash of flavoring and a few ice cubes. Delicious! In the evenings I usually make an almond milk shake as well. I have also made chicken salad in it. My husband wanted to put it through its paces, so he filled the big pitcher to the top with ice and it made snow with no big pieces whatsoever in about 30 seconds! It makes the smoothest piņa coladas and margaritas in the work in less than 30 seconds as well. Love it and worth very penny!
