That is the BEST turnip recipe. We love it. It's so good with ovenroasted short ribs!

Subbing, I have some turnips that have been in the vegetable crisper for MONTHS...wonder if they are still good? I know at least one is starting to grow a bit.

Here in the south we put ham hocks on to boil then add turnips ,greens and all ,and cook to your liking,man they are good.

I still use them when they are like that. If they've gotten a bit soft I use them in soup or stew. Also long as they are not rotten they still get eaten at my house.

I haven't had a chance to make the recipe above though it's still in my to make folder. I chunked the turnips and roasted them with a whole chicken. They were fabulous! Just like potatoes

Turnip recipe

My old German grandmother used to mash the cooked turnip..add salted butter, heavy cream to smooth a bit... and some well cooked bacon crispies. YUM!!! High fat..low carb

I also love the carmelized onions with turnips recipe. Great for holidays or even with a grilled steak. Scrumptious!
