Packet of xanthan gum

Just wanted to say that I found small packets (about the size of a yeast packet) of xanthan gum at Wal-Mart for $.48! That is awesome, since I have been dreading spending $10+ for a larger amount of it. I know it lasts a long time, but I am not sure if I will use it much. Anyways wanted to share :)

Thanks. Just spent 10+ at Wegmans myself.

Curious as to where you reside. Your location is not listed. That can help a lot when reading posts.
Thanks, helper

Sometimes stores with bulk bins have it and you can buy just a little bit.

I found the packets at Super Walmart in south Texas, if that helps anyone. It was beside all the GF products.

Thanks so much. When the location of a product that I use is mentioned, I look to see where the poster is from. Hoping it's somewhere in my part of the country. And that my Walmart will possibly stock it.
Thanks, helper

Any tips on storing the gum w/o a mess. I open the bag and it seems to somehow stick like glue to any surface that it can!

I put all my gums and glucomannan in covered salt or cheese skakers. It's easy to shake out what you need for any dish. I got the idea from Dana Carpender.

Spread a kitchen towel on the counter and then very slowly pour the powder into a canning jar or plastic container placed on the towel. I don't think there's any way to prevent the "cloud" of xanthan gum but the towel will catch it and you can shake it off outside.

Adding that the towel should be DRY, not wet or damp.
