Substitute for Brown Sugar?

Love some ideas on what to use as a substitute for brown sugar. Thanks!

I use Just Like Sugar Brown, but it is rather pricey. I think a lot of people have had success adding a touch of molasses to a sweetener of choice. Good luck!

I have succesfully used blackstrap molasses (usually about 1/2 teaspoon) added to any recipe calling for brown sugar. I replace the brown sugar with an equivalent sweetness of stevia clear drops and it works beautifully. I've also added it to erythritol and then it actually LOOKS like brown sugar. Hope that helps. Heres a whole thread about it:

I like Diabeti Sweet. Has worked for what I have used it for. Sometimes will add a tsp. of molasses with it.

When my tagatose and powdered black-strap molasses come in, I plan to use them in place of brown sugar for a barbeque rub. Very little molasses is needed to make the substitute brown sugar, raising the carb content very little.

Take Eyrithitol or Xylitol add 1 Tablespoon of blackstrap molasses and mix really well.

Lazy girl where did you get powdered black strap molasses?

I find that maple extract, specifically Kroger brand, adds a molasses-y taste. That's the only brand that I think does.

Ideal makes a xylitol brown sugar sub that's really great. I found it at kroger and food lion here in the southeast. It's very inexpensive compared to most but not available in that many locations. I think netrition carries it as well.

I am so sorry that my Kroger no longer carries this. I really like it as a brown sub. I also use LC Food Corp's Brown sweet but I liked the Ideal Brown better for certain things.

I like Ideal xylitol as well. I bought mine at Hy-Vee.
