Clam chowder question for all the cooks!
I bought canned cherrystone crabs today at TJ's. I intended upon making a chowder for DH and I. After reading about them I fear they are not appropriate for chowder but I don't know enough about clams to be sure. I usually buy little necks fresh or get them when we go out. Are cherrystones okay for chowder or do I need to buy a different kind?

what did you read about them? I read several reviews of TJ's canned cherrystone clams, and they were all positive and said they had or would make clam chowder with them. Let us know if you do make the chowder and how it turns out.

:doh: I did not even think to read reviews on the actual product. Derrrr! I am off to do just that. I will definitely report back! They were inexpensive and should be easier than using fresh, in this application. I love fresh shellfish.
