1970's Osterizer Blender Recipe

I got bought a second hand Osterizer blender and it came with a recipe book. Among MANY cool, delicious recipes one can make in a blender (including one for 'Chicken Liver Wurst') thier was one entitled "Slim-Cal"
I thought it was noteworthy to copy and share. Some may want to 'tweak' it some may just want a laugh. Some may just meet somewhere inbetween! Enjoy!

1 egg
2 tbls. corn oil
1 1/4c skim milk powder
3 c water
1 tsp. vanilla extract
artificial sweetner

Put all ingredients into Osterizer container (jar). Cover and process at STIR until well blended. Chill before serving. Divide into three servings for full day's menu of approximately 950 calories.

Sorry I mis-read. It is Chicken Liver Pate'
Here it is:

1 med. onion cut in eighths
1/4c melted chicken fat or butter
1/2 lb chicken livers
1tsp. salt
1/2tsp. pepper
1tbl red wine
2HB eggs

Put onion into 'mini-blend' containers and process 2 cycles at STIR. Saute' onion and chicken livers in butter or chicken fat. Put into Blender jar with seasonings, wine, and egg whites, cover, and process at BLEND until smooth, using a rubber spatula to aid in processing. Remove to a bowl and chill about 30 minutes. press into a well-oiled mold and remove at once to serving plate. Put egg yolks into 'mini-blend' jar and process 2 cycles at STIR. Garnish Pate' with egg yolks. Yields 1 1/2c.

Lots of recipes with adjectives like 'delight' and 'dream'. Funny.

I have a 1970 (maybe 71) Oster blender!!!! I got it either when I was expecting my first child, or shortly after he was born! We also bought my Mother-In-Law one just like it. We both still have them!!! She hasn't used hers much in a while, so the blades works get "stuck" and don't wan to run well. I've gone thru several containers!!! But still using mine quite regularly! I never found many (or any) recipes that interested me, and don't even know for sure where my book is, tho I know I have it somewhere!

I cannot imagine making one of those drinks, and it being my meals for the day!!! Not even 1 meal!!!

Love the blender so far. It is a whopping 1000watts! They certainly don't make them like that anymore, as when I was looking for a blender new, the watts were so small and most were made from all plastic in my price range.

You can buy new blades for the osterizer blenders. I got mine on ebay but I believe walmart carries them on the shelf. The new blades fit the old blenders no problem from what I understand.

Here's another recipe for you:

Weight Watchers Dressing:
1/4c wine vinegar
2tbl. water
1tsp. sugar
1/2tsp salt
1/4tsp paprika
1 clove garlic

Put all ingredients into Osterizer jar, cover, and process at whip until well blended.
Yields 1/2c.

This to me sounds pretty good for a dressing, maybe add some oil and AF instead of sugar (or leave it out).

Hollandaise Sauce in a blender:

4 egg yolks
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 tbl lemon juice
Dash of Tabasco sauce
1/4 lb butter, melted

Put egg yolks, salt, mustard, lemon juice and Tabasco sauce into Osterizer jar, cover and process at MIX. Remove feeder cap and pour butter in a steady stream until mixture is completely emulsified. This may be kep warm over ater ina bowl. Do not let water boil. yields 3/4 cup.

Having never made hollandiase sauce I believe I will try this!

I make a blender hollandaise sauce which I've made for years. Definitely NOT this one! This one I would not like. But that's MY tastes.

I think I originally got my recipe from my Better Homes & Garden cookbook. But I've seen it since then other places.

Liver of any kind is NOT my tastes either.

Borsch:
2 c sour cream
1/2 small lemon, peeled and seeded
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp celery salt
1/4 tsp onion salt
1 c diced cooked beets (I don't know if Beets are LC)

Put 1 3/4 sour cream into Blender, add remaining ingredients, cover, and process at PUREE until smooth. Serve icey cold garnished with remaining sour cream.
Yields 4 serving.
