I'm trying to decide what to do with this beef chuck roast in the sous vide. I was thinking of using half for some Texas Chili and half for some beef bbq. I'm not a real big roast lover.

Any other ideas?

Hi graybb1, It's great! I'm making sirloin strips for dinner. I did some boneless chuck steaks and top sirloin steaks and they were good. I think the sous vide is especially great for the less choice cuts. My Mr l.o.v.e.s the ribeyes.

Charski, I found the neatest rack for my roaster on Amazon, it's a rib rack by Charcoal Companion Platium. It's stianless steel, reversible for roast and ribs and has 6 sections.

Thanks girls for sharing!

Okay, we want pictures of those steaks the next time!

How long and at what temp did you cook the ribeyes? I do love a good ribeye.

How do y'all finish off your meat? I was afraid of my torch until I made these beef ribs and I just let loose. LOL. I really got them sizzling. Now I'm into that torch. LOL!

They were frozen and 1/1/2 inches thick. I started them at 10 a.m. and took them out at 7:30, temp 133. I just put a little oo on them along with steak seasoning, seared them in a hot iron skillet a couple minutes on each side. They were warm pink. I think I'm going to try 130 next time. I wish I had a torch and I'm going to get one.

I don't know how to post pictures. I'll try to learn.

Have you ever used adkins western style bbq seasoning, it's pretty unique and pretty awesome.

I just googled it. Do you know what the ingredients are? All of their spice mixes sound good!

I couldn't find the ingredients online either so I copied off my pkg. I don't sweat the sugar because it doesn't take much.

sugar, salt, paprika, chili powder, celery, garlic, comino
1/4 tsp
5 cal, 0 fat, 1g carb, 1g sugar, 0 protein

I think I'll order some, $4 for 16 oz. isn't a bad deal.

ETA: Well, I was going to until I got to the $13 shipping charge! Cost more to ship than to buy the actual product.

oh no, I went in with a friend and it's been a while, we ordered 4 so idk

It would be pretty easy to make it, based on 5 calories / 1/4t and a t of sugar being 16 calories, it's sweet/salty/chili powder blend. I hope that helps.

Just took the chuck roast out after 3 days.

I gave it a flash cooling with ice and water then dumped it and the bag juices into a disposable baking pan. It is fork tender and very tasty. I'm not a fan of roasts, but this is really good.

I shredded it with two forks and got all this meat.

I put half in the fridge to make some beef bbq and half in a pot with the juice from the bag and a bottle of beer & added Texas chili spices. It's simmering now.

I should get at least 6 good meals from that one cheap roast!
