Freezing chicken broth

I have more broth than I need, can I freeze it again?

When I made this batch I froze about 6 qts in one container now I just want about a qt. If I thaw it can it be refrozen

Next time I will freeze it in smaller batches.

I do it all the time. I now freeze in freezer bags so they lay flat and take up less space, along with date.

the bit about it being dangerous to refreeze things is an old wive's tale. what's true is this: freezing keeps things longer but it DOESN'T make them safe if they are too old to start with!

so if you had something that was getting old and you froze it, when you thaw it, you have to use it right away. and you shouldn't expect the freezing to keep it good forever either.

if your broth is fine, thawing and refreezing is fine. minimize how warm it gets and how long it's out of the freezer to be safest.

Just FYI, I freeze my broth in ice cube trays, dump out and out put in Ziplock bags in the freezer. It is easy to get just the right amount that way.

That would take a lot of ice cube trays for 6 qts. Lol.
