White Chocolate
 
Anybody know where i can get any SF white chocolate or chocolate (milk chocolate) without that nasty Malitol added to it.

I didn't get one on a search of Netrition's site. I see a brand on Amazon that uses Stevia and xylitol. They have it loaded into their database as "Sugar Free House White Chocolate". But the close up of the bag itself says the brand is Coffee House White Chocolate. Never used it but the one customer review was complimentary of the product. I found it just Googling sugar-free white chocolate. Google is your friend. :)

Looks like that product is a powder.I'm looking for solid white chocolate.

I just can't find any without the Malitol in it.Thought i would ask you people if they knew where some was.

I wonder how one uses the powdered product? Maybe you just add a liquid and butter and mold your own bars with it. If it's a powder, it may just be a coffee flavoring/additive.

I did see a recipe one time for making your own white chocolate while browsing Birgit Kerr's blog, called Birgit's Daily Bytes. She used to post recipes here at LCF but I haven't seen her around in quite awhile. You might consider making your own if you don't have any luck finding any block stuff.

I just made homemade white chocolate using this recipe. I left out the other extracts and just used the vanilla and used powdered xylitol and splenda for the sweeteners, you can use whatever sweetener you like. They came out pretty good. I dont have any candy molds so I just poured it into a glass pan, then I chopped it up after it was solid. I'm using them to make Cranberry, Macadamia Nut, White Chocolate Chip Cookies tomorrow.


White Chocolate

Yield: 12 white chocolate discs

2 ounces edible cocoa butter
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon powdered milk or soymilk powder (for a vegan version)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon orange extract (You can replace this orange extract with any flavored extract that you like. If you want a more traditional vanilla-flavored white chocolate, use more vanilla extract for a total of one teaspoon vanilla extract.)
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger (You can use any spices that you like or leave out the spices entirely for a more traditional white chocolate.)
Pinch of salt

Silicone molds (To make these white chocolate discs, I used a silicone cupcake tin but, you can use any silicone mold that you like.)

Place cocoa butter in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave. If you are used to melting butter in the microwave, you'll be surprised at how much longer this process takes for cocoa butter. Set the microwave for two minutes and then add a minute at a time until the cocoa butter is completely liquefied.
Stir in the powdered sugar and the milk powder. Make sure that all of the sugar is completely dissolved in the cocoa butter.
Stir in the remaining ingredients.
Pour or spoon the mixture into your molds. If you are using a silicone cupcake tin, use approximately one tablespoon of the cocoa butter mixture per circle.
Refrigerate until cool.
Pop the white chocolates out of the molds and enjoy on the spot, use to decorate cupcakes or cakes, break into pieces and add to cookies, or use in any other way that you can dream up.
