I actually do have a waffle maker that makes 4 square waffles. I'll have to dig it out.
Oh I did try the pizza crust idea. But it was tooo bendy for me. I used fresh Parmesan for the cheese (don't know if that did it instead of cheddar) and some minced garlic and seasoning. Was ok taste but I wanted it firmer. I guess I could have left it on longer but I didn't want to burn it. I did put it under broiler for a couple minutes to melt the toppings.

I'm on the West coast. Look everywhere. I saw them at Walmarts , Target, and my Fred Meyers store.

I got a cake pop for $4.22 at walmart and a coffee grinder for 4.67 @ Target. Christmas clearance is everywhere. I love christmas clearance.

I octupled the original recipe (yes, x8) but only got 6 waffles. Which means, they were extra cheesey. So cheesey, in fact, that they tasted like cheese toast! Which I think is a good thing. I had a fat tuna sandwich on one. Even my husband is eating them and happy about it.

So, I was thinking about the pizza thing. And here's my plan. I'm going to flatten one out with the rolling pin and bake it for a few minutes and top it and bake again. This will be tomorrow's experiment.

One of the newer larger Foreman grills has interchangable plates-one for grilling/pannini, one for waffles, one for a small cake or pizza and one for 6 cupcakes. I got one several months ago and I use it almost every day for something. I make the OMM into a waffle at least once a week.
They sell for about $100 and for what you get and how much you can use it, its a DEAL!

Annie75, how did you make the OMM into a waffle, just double the recipe and cook it in the waffle maker?

I thought about putting in a bit of dehydrated onion. Next time!

BTW, my waffle experiment was meh as well. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. It was sturdy enough to pick up after I rolled it flat and pre-baked it for a few minutes, then added the toppings and baked some more. It was a decent lunch, but nothing to write home about.

I'm in love with waffles, in general. Can anyone recommend a recipe for a belgian waffle, just a sweet one? I tried with coconut flour and it did not come out. I mean that literally; I had to scrub the waffle maker clean.

I read somewhere that the Belgian waffle makers make waffles more "bready" on the inside, is that true? I'm looking for one to make waffle sandwiches with...

Oster. I have the belgian waffler and I like it. It cleans up well and the hinge is flexible.
